I just received my order from a online retailer today which was supposed to be a gtx 260 216. But due to rupture of stock they have sent me a gtx 280. This has really annoyed me because this card was supposed to be for sli with the gtx 260 that i already have. Is it possible to downclock the gtx 280 or change the bios so that it can run in sli with my gtx 260 ?

what brand 280 is it:confused: I could well be interested in swapping it for my less than a month old Evga 260 216 SSC Edition that has not even been registered yet.:D

Seems the best option. It is not possible to run two different cards in SLI. The BIOS's will not be compatible either I'm afraid so a BIOS flash is out of the question.

Sure on that? I've not played with the 280 - but with the G92 parts it was possible to flash different 8/9 series cards with a custom BIOS and fool SLI into working. Not that I reccomend it as the difference in performance leads to a noticeable "elastic band" effect on the rendering.

sell the 280 on members market for more than you paid for it (assuming you only paid 260 price) and buy another 260 from somewhere else (hmm - here?)

I was going to suggest a swap, could be a win win, if someones willing to take it on, seems fair, a gainward higherspec for an evga better warranty....

All IMHO
