Windows 7 beta - 9th January

Mine won't install. :(

32Bit disc says there was an I/O error.

One of my 64Bit gets as far as starting 'expanding files' and comes up with some error or other, and another disc I burnt comes up with the same error after it gets to about 30% of 'expanding files'. :(

I'm going to try and update my bios as I haven't done it in ages, hopefully that'll help, if not, I hate my PC. :p

EDIT: I'm trying to install on a SATA hdd I borrowed from work, and it should be a fully working drive, I don't want to wipe my Vista install just yet. Also I'm using a SATA dvd drive, but that shouldn't matter should it?

hmmmm, no matter how many times I change it- whenever I put a dvd in it automatically plays it in media player! Seems the autorun setting resets everytime I restart. Any ideas?

just whacked this on in dual config with vista.

had a play for 10-20 mins, seems almost identical to vista?

obviously im missing something, is this just vista with tiny improvements?

ive just tried searching this entire thread for general opinions but its mainly 'ZOMG NEED KEY' comments :p

Bugger, theres no v-sync. :(

Ive also noticed in me devices (where it shows you the pics of your monitor, pc, keyboard, mouse etc...., that next to my pc, theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it, and when i click on it, it says at the bottom State: not working properly, yet its bloody fine  :p

Well that was easy, just started DLing from MS, got the key right away and 1.8MB/sec :)

I'm going to be installing it on a Samsung NC10 netbook :D

Don't want to go through 56 pages to find out - so apologies if a repeat question

No sarcasm intended (honestly, I only recently discovered this myself!)... But at the top of the thread there's a button for "Search this thread". It's very handy, as obviously the main forum-wide search is a bit of a blunt instrument in comparison.

I can't answer your question, but maybe someone else already did :)

What's with the icky task bar? I assume you can change the style?

Yes. Right click the icons in the new "super bar" (eg IE, WMP) and click to unpin/remove from taskbar. Then follow THIS GUIDE. Use Method Three first to actually create the quick launch again, then follow Method One to make it stick (tick Enable in the group policy editor).

Once you actually have the quick launch back, you'll need to drag it left back to where it should be. Then finally right click and untick 'Show Title' and 'Show Text'. It'll be back to normal just like Vista :)

EDIT: Sorry forgot to add that you'd need to right click the taskbar and go into Properties to select 'use small icons' so it goes back to Vista size as well.

Thanks, making me watch Emmerdale is evil though. :(

:o:o:o

My Mum deleted that ep from her Sky+ and asked me to arrange a suitable alternative. It seems when I CTRL+C the correct url for you, I'd just hit CTRL and not the C to go with it. My bad :p The link in my last post is now fixed. Hopefully.

Any of you had any issues with saving to jpg and a few other file formats using photoshop on windows 7?

I'm all happy using PNG files but I thought it was a bit weird that the option isn't available

Is this simple to Dual boot with Vista?

Boot into Vista and shrink the parition using Disk Management. Then format the unused space into a new parition. Simply install 7 onto this and then you'll have the option of Vista and Windows 7 on boot.
