Hi every1 :)

Im looking for a basic build for a friend. The build is only for basic word processing, spreadsheets etc. But the thing is i need everything from mouse to monitor, case to psu(im sure u get my drift :D ) and incl OS and office if its cheap enough :).

Thanks for any help in advance, at this stage im just looking for price ranges to get back to him with and after this build im looking to update my own build(happy days)

id suggest you look at the thread on system builds, unless he has a set budget in which case we can then recomend specifics, also look at open office, its free

P5Q-VM with an E5200 a 250 gig drive and 2gb of generic ram, should be able to build the whole thing for about £280 inc OS
Cheaper options would be an AM2+ board with onboard GPU with a dual core 5600, probably get under £250.00.
You could save a fortune using Ubuntu and Openoffice.

+1 for open office. I used to use office '03 then '07. After installing a linux distro on my laptop and experiencing open office I became a convert. It's now what I prefer.

Spec wise basically any modern hardware will run office and web browsing with ease.

If I were building a PC like that now I'd be looking at a mini tower or some other small build.
