NEC LCD24WMGX3 Professional Gaming 24" Widescreen

If you're not doing any serious, professional photo editing I don't think yout need to touch anything really apart from brightness and contrast which are too high at default.

Regarding dead pixels - I have a stuck sub-pixel on my screen. I only noticed it because I specifically searched a black screen for it. I'd never have noticed it other wise. The pixel dot-pitch on 24" monitors is tiny. I wouldn't be surprised if a significant proportion of the people who say they have no dead or stuck pixels may well have just not noticed them - they're that small.

Ok thanks guys, one last question. Would you recommend spending about an extra £230 to get one of these over a Samsung £230 TN panel? Main use will be browsing, coding,tv,movies(hd). Is it sensible paying double the price for one of these, quality wise?

Thanks

To be honest, it's not a case of some have ghosting and some do not. It's just some people notice it more than others. As I said, I noticed it on the BenQ FP241W, but I don't notice it on the NEC which I guess is strange seeing as they're similar panels! But this definately feels more responsive and also has the added advantage of MP mode which reduces ghosting almost entirely.

No. It really is a case of this panel having some serious ghosting issues with dark colors.
MP mode has no influence. Tested that in depth in the hunt for a solution.

Now that is a lot of brass air fittings http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/airfitting_1.htm there is just about every type
of air fitting that you could want. Wholesale prices too. I guess these could be used as small water pipe fitting also. I
used some of the parts to make my babington wvo bu

Just what I needed. Thanks for the link man ;)

Noticed this straight away, its darks/greys that cause it. Done 2 quick videos and put them on youtube to demonstrate.
Certain games/scenarios are worse at it than others but when buying a monitor in this size its always a question of what pros/cons to have.

ps: i play vast amounts of games of varying genres (mainly FPS) and im a fussy bugger with an OCD like desire for perfection from/with anything, so i find it a bit annoying sometimes but im starting to adjust (ignore ;) ).

It's very hard to catch on video. I couldn't see too much of a problem on your videos. Well not enough to prevent me from buying anyway

I'm waiting to get a refund on my HP LP2475w (from another shop) and I just hope it will be processed in time for me to order this, I should have got this in the first place! :)

I had the same thoughts when I pulled the trigger on the NEC :)
Also owned a HP LP2475w. Out of curiosity why did your return yours ?

If ghost free gaming is not a concern for you then yes.
As I previously mentioned the NEC has stunning image quality

"Without a doubt the best desktop experience I have had. I mean it goes very dim if you want it to without losing any dark detail. The sharpest text I have seen. Nice and crisp. Gradients are displayed without banding. It’s very nice calibrated out of the box. And then something I haven’t experienced before it seems to have a very soft to the eye white, hard to explain. Maximized white windows are a bliss to view"

Fair enough - you've tested for ghosting and you can see it. That doesn't mean that everyone a) notices it and/or b) feels it's enough of a problem to contemplate not keeping the monitor. I freely admit it's not quite as responsive as the NEC 20WGX2 I previously owned, but I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say any ghosting is in any way 'serious'. If it were, I'd have sent it back a long time ago - as I did with the BenQ! ;)

I think what we can all agree is that this is mostly down to personal tolerance of any kind of ghosting and purely that some people notice it more than others. If you've tested it in depth then you're hardly likely to find a solution at all. The screen isn't going suddenly to become any more responsive is it?

I've just got this monitor and love it, there may be the teensiest bit of ghosting, but it's not enough to make me regret buying it.

I have a lacie blue eye calibrator, and out of the box it did not perform too well. After calibration it was dang near spot on.

It's an awesome purchase, at it's current price I'd recommend it to anyone.

Mines turned up today , a good 40 mins after the 12 am deadline I'll add, but overall very happy. Ooozes quality.

Few quick points as the missus is feeling neglected and giving my the look.

- Immediately thought it was pretty heavy
- Nearly lost an eye unscrewing the stand lock. ( ^^* )
- Stand is bloody stiff
- 11" away and I still use the remote
- Image quality and viewing angles are superb. ( Better when calibrated but very happy with default picture )

Oh and no dead pixels...phew.

Overclockers have organised a collection tomorrow and a refund so I can order a new one today for delivery tomorrow. Thank you overclockers tech support.

Ugh. I've just replaced my 3870 with a GTX260 216 and now it's all gone to pot. Poor blacks and darkness, screen flicker, rubbish new nv browser-based settings.... other than go back to the ATI, any suggestions?

The left side of the screen would be green and the right side would be red in huge, especially on a white background; there was significant backlight bleeding on the top right part of the monitor and all white text/lines had a red bleed.

It looked superb, but because I could see those defects and the price I paid was fairly reasonable, I don't want any compromises. I want a monitor that won't make me think of its problems every time i look at it, which is usually a lot!
