Hi there, very quick question

I usually just install the script I'm using to a directory

But now I have a lot of scripts I wish to install

Therefore I want to install to

Mywebserver / OPENSOURCE / Scripts

Now when fantastico asks where would I like to install

Inputting

/opensource/scripthere
or
opensource/scripthere

Brings an error message, whereas of course

Scriptshere works fine

Help!

You'll probably need the path where your files are on the server, i.e.:
/path/to/your/wwwroot/opensource/scripthere

Cpanel should list it on the left somewhere.

Cpanel lists the Home Directory

/home/irgscouk

I tried /home/irgscouk/opensource/here

and

home/irgscouk/opensource/here

No luck

hmm might just be easier to manual install

Are folders 'opensource' and 'here' there, and have you set their perrmissions properly?

Also try with a trailing forward slash:
/home/irgscouk/opensource/here/

And post the error so we know what the issue is :p.

firstly Fantastico is stressing that the directory nor permissions must not exist

It says
Install in directory

Leave empty to install in the root directory of the domain (access example: http://domain/).
Enter only the directory name to install in a directory (for http://domain/name/ enter name only). This directory SHOULD NOT exist, it will be automatically created!

I tried /home/irgscouk/opensource/here

and

home/irgscouk/opensource/here

so I've now tried

/home/irgscouk/public_html/opensource/here

and

home/irgscouk/public_html/opensource/here

With and without the leading slashes

My error report

The installation can not be completed:

- No valid directory name provided.

Funnilly enough I'm currently studying linux and it's filestructure :D

Strange - opensource/Scripts should be fine. You should be able to install it in Scripts then ask your host to move it to the opensource directory (I know they will ;)) :)

might ask the host

It seems a well documented flaw according to google

That only workaround seems to be creating a website subdirectory i.e opensource.mywebsite.co.uk

Then choosing the sub directory in fantastico

Thats why I got chuffed off with Fantastico and went down the Installatron route - works with both cPanel and Directadmin (and Plesk?) and my world of Fantastico pain has been left way way behind :)
