The NSX may be gone but it is clearly not forgotten over at Honda. The Japanese carmaker was still happy to tap into the car’s legendary status for the ’09 Tokyo Auto Salon to create its star car.

The Mugen NSX RR is officially a one-off show car to commemorate the long-lived supercar, and it features a combination of carbon fibre and aluminium body panels. The car has been stretched to 177.95 inches and widened by 5.5 inches and the 3.0-litre V6 has been ditched in favour of a supercharged 2.4-litre V6.

It is fitted with a revised six-speed manual gearbox and power is reportedly up to 380bhp. The bad news is that at present the car will not go into production although rumour has it that Mugen is considering acquiring some low mileage NSXs and converting them.

Shame it's only a one off.

I want one!

They will probably build one if the purchaser has very deep pockets.

Nissan did something similar with the R34 GTR. Rather than build new vehicles they took good used cars and built a few specials. I forget whats it was called though.

I'm guessing that Honda had planned to show off the new NSX, but as it's been canned, they've wheeled out something that's been chopped and then rolled down to Halfords for a workover. Hideous.

I like a lot of the wide arch kits for the NSX, but not this one. The front bumper, bonnet and spoiler are horribly gash.

Exhausts are mounted too high up and the snorkel looks stupid.

Everything else is nice.

380bhp in a car with a carbon fibre shell

maybe ok then, but these days I dont feel that sort of output cuts it...

they made it wider and longer, changed it looks to make it more 'supercar' like, but I don't think 380bhp is supercar power.

seems it's 1.1 tons... not 'that' light that 380bhp would break any records.

edit: just a little lighter than a 360CS, and a little less power, guess it will be a lot of fun :)
