Windows 7 beta - 9th January

Guys, when I browse 'Games' from the Start menu my system slows right down and eventually hangs? Games is the only folder in the menu that seems to do this, the others are fine :(

I'm running it in VMWare. Any ideas?

Personally, I would have never have thought that running an OS in a virtual environment would be an accurate representation on how it would run natively. I wouldn't be surprised if that was just a quirk that stemmed from being run in a virtual machine. Like it's getting confused about something.

ran on VM workstation, yeah install felt longer than xp. :(

it seemed quick enough once in the os. but then a fresh install always does.

the taskbar is very big and chunky, not my thing, duno if i can change that?

need to install properly really but as this stage is alittle pointless.

If you right click on the task bar and go to properties, in task bar tick Use Small Icons and its much smaller then.

I installed it on the following, my backup PC.

Dual Core 2.2Ghz Celeron
1GB PC6400 RAM
Sapphire x1950pro

Installation took about 20 minutes, I'd say. Maybe 25. It's quite smooth though I notice a slight stuttering in Aero, possibly I haven't installed any drivers yet. I haven't noticed a huge amount of difference between W7 and Vista, but seeing as Vista runs like a dream on my main system anyway, that's not surprising.

I love windows7 but as I need to be able to play steam games, I had to uninstall as everytime I played cs I got huge tearing on my screen :( shame because imo it's 10x better than vista.

Why do some programs have a Yellow/Blue shield on the exe file?

Also, generally, people who use betas and take an active role in submitting feedback and that receive a retail copy when it goes RTM/retail.

I thought the Send Feedback pages didn't have any contact information on them?

Lost internet connectivity last night and a quick reboot this morning did not reslove. I had to quickly boot into vista before leaving for work. Will report this later. Aparently it was a DNS issue. Vista was fine though.

get problems with username and password not working on the bay. always submit my findings to MS like you should thats how problems are ironed out.

Help? :(

I installed and activated windows 7 yesterday, but now it is telling me my pre-release version of windows 7 has expired and that I should install again.

Anyone got any ideas? I get this window when I try to enter my key again.

*edit*

Woops :p Look at time and date, I wonder why it did that lol. I've set it back to normal and it activated fine.

That sounds like an issue I used to get in build 6801. It would report it as a DNS issue, but my server would still be able to access the internet. I found that disabling the network adapter, rebooting, then re-enabling it sorted out the problem.

I haven't had it since going to build 7000 though.
