Hey all, even though I've been in Aberdeen since September, being a lowly student i'm not all too clued up on the decent places to go out for dinner here :p. So was just wondering if anyone who lives here, as I've seen a few lurk about, or anyone who's visited and went anywhere decent would reccomend a place to take the ladyfriend out for a nice meal? It wont be for a while yet (read: Valentines day) so booking in advance shouldn't pose too much of a problem I hope and cost wont be a major issue either, just dont reccomend somewhere way OTT. :o Cheers!

Don't really go out too often for food here but there are a few places I quite like.
Casa Gabriele, Nazma Tandoori and Yangtze River are all pretty good and all on Bridge St.
La Lombarda at the end of Union St.
Another place I had a really good meal was The Carmelite hotel, might be pushing the price a bit.
There's a good few places to go out, these are just ones off the top of my head.

Cool. Thanks for the suggestions, i'll look into them. :)
Came accross Yatai as well which seems to have pretty good reviews.

pizza hut!!!!!!!!!

on a serious note, la stella? Although if memory serves me correctly its quite expensive

Ive been up here since april last year and ive only ever taken the good lady for pub lunches!
Slains and the old school house on belmont street are good. I know they dont fit the bill if your after somewhere a bit better :)

Yeah, good suggestions for that sort of thing, but after something a bit fancier :)
Must say I didn't expect this many people from Aberdeen lurking about.

Is Howies open in the evenings? They're pretty reasonable price wise and it's good food.

Edit: Kyuss, did you take your name from the awesome band? :D

I guess it just depends on what style of food you're after, that Yatai place you linked to sounds pretty good, think I'll need to check it out soon.

Yeah, im not hugely fussed, she mentioned a nice Italian place but can't remember the name of it, so will probably end up going for Italian  :p. Quite fancy the Yatai place, menu looks good :)

yeah :D such a good band.

As a student cant go wrong with a bobbin meal, 3 pounds for a curry and beer! classy.

Slains and old school house are always nice too for a kinda pub meal

I found the food at Revs to be pretty decent as well, if not a bit pricey for what it is really :p. And mm, the Bobbin <3. Not tried the curry from there yet, it's all about the scream burger! :p

Scream burger is like >5 quid! They sometimes dont accept the order of a curry, i think its depending on who they have on staff. To be honest to me it tastes like the microwave curry from marks and spencers still damn good with chips though :D

*completely unrelated to the OP but never knew there was aberdonians on here*

Any Dons here? Lee Miller's on top form recently :D Hopefully we'll destroy the ugly sisters in the next couple of games. Stand Free :p

As for eating out in Aberdeen....not a clue!

It probably is microwaved! :p It's very Wetherspoons-esque food. And pfft, the scream burger is lovely, end up eating it with a knife and fork though, just falls apart. Especially if I double up the burger if im feeling greedy :p

Rustico's is a BRILLIANT italian, make sure to book as it's pretty much always mobbed

China Town is a great Chinese restaurant

Royal Thai is a great Thai restaurant

La Tasca is good if you like Spanish food
