virgin tv (large)

Can i just add that i pay £61 to sky for the sky world package (everything), broadband, and telephone (no line rental to bt).

Seems a very good deal to me. :)
 
Best thing to do is call them i phoned them about 4 months as i was thinking about going to Sky and they changed my package to XL TV, L BB, Phone ( Freecalls day and night) and sentanta sports all for £34. ;)
 
Virgin's on demand service is bloody excellent.

The only chew I have with it is that I don't think it's updated too often, and they sometimes have some episodes missing from a series.

I've started to watch the music videos lately too. There are hundreds of the things! :D
 
I have Virgin TV and On Demand.
It's quite good. We got the basic 1 for free.
I rang them today and asked if they could just put a point upstairs so we can move the box to our room, and they tried charging me £99 for the socket only, only £30 for an additional box, with the point install for free, but an extra £9.99 a month...Not sure what to do

All I did was to put in a 3 way splitter were it comes into your house
then ran a cable off one end to the bed room BINGO ..

EDIT= Just tell them that you are thinking of leaving and they may offer you a better deal.

thats all they do anyway , we had a second box in our bedroom for awhile and the guy just added a 2way splitter behind the cable modem (pc room is next to the bedroom) and put a cable through the wall to where the set top box used to be.

You can connect a laptop (or HTPC) via LAN cable (or an odd male-male USB cable) however I tried this and Dad had to ring up VM to fix it. They fixed it from their end sharpish so they didn't have to come out the next day as they had arranged.

I was trying to capture a TV on demend show called "boob envy".:)

Other than that its been used to watch episodes of Strictly Come Dancing when we want to see them. Also you can fast forward through the adverts. Just like a VHS.

Its a pity the eSATA port dont work :(

I was thinking of hooking up a Hard Drive to it.

I don't have V+ either, I don't know what is so special about that, we get TV, Movie on demand, and its basically got the same connections just not the exact same layout and the card is at the front (not that you should ever need to touch the card).

Also look at pic 3 out of 7.
 
The On Demand stuff is cool, If you have the XL package then all the On Demand Music is free, The movies are pretty much up to date, The only issue i have is the total unresponsivness and constant needing of reseting on the Virgin Plus box.

Still now they have the SKY channels back i prefer it over sky.
 
its very rare for my box to need reseting and its pretty responsive the majority of the time.

im using an ancient box that we have had for over 5 years

so in short: read through links before, interesting :) Hope i get blue/silver remote and not the tacky all blue one :(

ive got the basic free tv but its still got on demand from the channels i dont get :) £20 month i get tv, free 24/7 phone calls ,broadband
