Mmm, expensive, but then not too different to what the GTX 280's were selling for a few weeks back.

I just wish Nvidia would drop the race for top end, and start migrating some of the GT200 technology to their midrange cards which badly need a overhaul.

Glad I snapped up a 280 for £230 now!

:D

Its a very good card at a good price for what it is, just I think my GTX 280 deal earlier in the month has stolen some of its thunder.

These will certainly be the card to have in the coming few months.

First proper reviews of the GTX 285 are coming in

1) http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3501&p=1
Conclusion:
In summary, despite its typical 10% performance advantage, the GeForce GTX 285 offers less price/performance than the GTX 280. The closest price competitor to the GTX 285, the Radeon HD 4870 X2, also offers better value, but at a higher price

2) http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/evga_geforce_gtx_285_ssc_performance_review/
Conclusion:
Based on all this, we’d say the GeForce GTX 285 is a nice improvement over the GTX 280, but it isn’t a game changer for NVIDIA. The chip does run cooler and consume less power than its predecessor, GTX 280, all while running up to 10% faster at 2560x1600. Priced at an MSRP of $379 though, its price/performance ratio isn’t as high as a card like Sapphire’s Radeon 4870 X2,

Pretty much the same thing from both.

Load temps are very similar to the 280 according to early reviews, not surprised by that when you consider all the memory is now crammed on one side of the PCB, and still using almost exactly the same cooler design. If temps are correct then I can’t see there been much over clocking headroom to go beyond what a 280 can normally reach.

it also uses 2x 6 pin connectors instead of 6 + 8 pin, So less headroom for overclocking really(don't know if it's true as i'm only repeating what I have read)

That's not true at all. The 285 is a 55nm part that requires less power and explains the switch to 2* 6pin connectors. It has no bearing on overclocking ability.
