per hour charges

To be honest I would never pay someone to fix my laptop or computer straight away. Not when you can find a fix to most things on the internet. I would rather spend a few hours browsing the internet and forums first and try and fix it myself instead of paying someone who will charge obscene amounts of money for something that you could possibly do yourself.

well you could say the same about eletronics or plumbing lol

Well, it all depends what you feel confident doing I suppose. I'd quite happily attempt to solve any problem myself first but some people are not.

Also, Google normally knows all.

@ Grissle

What type of inspiron is it, should be printed just beneath the screen on the laptop I think.

apart from the massive amount of the population who dont earn anywhere near 15 quid an hour

so he gets in his car... comes to the address.....fixes laptop in 5 minutes and drives to next one.

Not worth it for £15 with fuel being what it is. You know what i mean so dont be pedantic.

Far more costs involved than if your sitting behind a till in tescos, £30 per hour seems a good fair rate to me.

Post the spec/make/model of your laptop & Then people may be able to give some constructive advice & save you a few quid, Works for me ;)

Also post your location as there may be a member that wants to earn a quick 30 quid :D

What would you rather, they came and fixed it in 10 mins and left with £30, or they stuck around in your house for an hour pretending that the job is taking longer and left with £30?

I always charge an hour minimum, and I don't even bother to tell the clients (unless they look like they need telling). It's pretty standard practice.

The reason it says £30ph is because it charges by the hour, otherwise they'd say 50p a minute or something silly.

OP can't be bothered to read the Manual, never mind spend hours finding out what he should do, so he's paying somebody to do it for him.

as others have said learn to do it yourself or Pay, 1 hour min is normal.
£30ph seems about right for a At home visit.
