Prang - Helphire Advice

Thanks Lum.

Turns out it was a very old chap who just didn't look when entering the roundabout. The garbled message from my wife about hitting the other side was the old boy attempting to move his car out of the traffic and hit their car again in the process and bent both drivers side doors.....

If the guy hit the drivers door wouldn't that mean your car pulled out in front of him on the roundabout?

The actual accident they were on the roundabout and he just didn't stop and hit the passenger side just after the B pillar jamming both doors. Once the car had stopped moving she drove it onto the verge and jumped out to see to twins, wife couldn't open her door so moved round in her seat to settle the twin on her side.

With both doors open on the drivers side and cousin leaning in the rear to see to her babies, the old boy that hit them also went to put his car on the verge but misjudged it and hit both of the open doors on the drivers side. Think she was quite lucky he didn't run her over or the car get pulled along and hurt her.

Ahh and ouch :(

The saga continues....

Just dropped off the hire car and collected mine... The garage had been told a salvage company were picking it up...

So got home, called helphire, and have been told they ARE pursuing a cash settlement and I will be contacted to confirm figures next week...

Just beggers belief!

I wouldn't recommend helphire after my non fault accident. Very good during the initial stages but an absolute joke once they take management of your claim.

What initial stages are there before they take management of your claim?

- Pick up phone
- Call Helphire
- "Hi, ive had a non fault accident"

just ring your bloody insurance company and let it go through them

Probably too late for the OP, but for anyone else, don't do this!

When I was knocked off my old bike in July, I wasn't aware that you could allow a third party company to deal with everything, so just got my dad (I was in hospital at the time) to contact my insurers and trusted that they would sort everything out.

To this day I still have to chase them for updates, they have never once contacted me, and my NCB has still not been reinstated; despite the other party admitting liability.

I was given an information pack from the dealers when I purchased my new bike, it’s for a service like Helphire, and the card will be with me at all times when I’m riding – I hope never to have to make a claim again, but if I do, I’m not letting the insurers deal with it that’s for sure.

Scort.

Anniesdad on Pisonheads runs europa car care, they were fantastic with my case and sound much better, very good and personal service from them.

Well its nearly 3 months on and its still going on....

The 3rd party want to total loss my car, and after them finally sending me the correct information with the correct registration number on it, Ive now got to decide what to do. Ive spoken to my insurer and if the 3rd party total loss my car it then voids my current insurance and MOT. I can however get a new MOT and then just call them back up and insure it again, but that does leave me with a time lag between the car being written off, and then getting it MOTed and reinsured. Seen as im lookin at buying a new car, what grounds do I have to keep hold of the agreement to total loss my car untill I find a new one, meaning I could then change the car on the policy to the new one, and then write off my current car, which would leave it uninsured and un-MOTed, but with pleanty of time for me to get it sorted? Is there a deadline to total lossing?

Make tht 4 months, and now the Police are disputing liability!

They have climed I accused the Cheif Constable of driving when he wasnt, when I have nevr done this, I know both their details, and the Cheif Constables detaisl were only included in the care of address for the police station! They have also stated that they were stationary and that I drove through a gap that was to small.... which is impossible. If you drive forward into a gap that is to small you dont get damage on the side of your car... And they are also claiming I was buffeted against the kerb on the left squeezing though, but seen as the guy won on the right hand side of my car looking behind him, it is impossible for them to have even seen that side of my car, let alone made any claims of anything going on. Time to send them my witness details and details of why they are wrong!

Tip: Dont have an accieent involving the police, they will lie their way out of it!

Oh, and not to mention, I have been told by my solicitor they have accepted liability before, and I have the agreement for the final value of my car at home. so they are not only now lying, they have changed there acceptance if liability to.

GRRR!

I had a nightmare with helphire as well, they dropped my case without informing me. Went through our own insurance in the end and the other party paid out. Wont be getting a third party involved again.

Indeed, i had exactly the same happen to me. Its still not resolved nearly a year on now....completely useless idiots who messed me around for a long time. Their like for like car for a Mercedes S430 was a Passat diesel, too.

This isnt really with HelpHire anymore. Its the Solicitors that HelpHire have given the case to to pursue that are trying to claim for the rightoff costs for my car and the hire costs for HelpHires. If Id have gone though my own insurance I would have just been in the same position with some solicitor firm fighting my case for me, all be it without the hire car cost aswell.

Its just all the hassle! and the time thats annoying me! Im assuiming they are just draggin it out hoping ill forget what happened or just give up and take the blame.... not a chance.

That was another thing which annoyed me royally. They kept calling me asking if i would rather settle 50:50 as it would be much quicker and would get it resolved.

Errr, NO!

Well I had already taken the simpler rout out of just accepting a total loss valuation rather than fighting to get it fixed, but now im tempted to go back on that and just demand they take liability and fix it. The fact that its even an open case on my policy had pushed it up by 10% already...

Well, atleast it looks like im not alone by being screwed about by the other party. Looks like ive got a fight on my hands, so im not expecting this to be sorted for a while yet...

there goes my ST220 plans!

You should be ok mate if its not your fault, i renewed with bell 'other week and they didnt load me at all for having this case open. They even granted my my additional ncb for the year :)

OMFG! Do I have a target on me or something!

Pulled up and stopped at a junction on my way to work and some tool drove straight inot the back of me. So Ive got an open claim ongoing, and now Ive been hit AGAIN!

Guy accepted full fault and ive got his details, but what would you suggest. Due to the unique structure of the MOndeo bumpers, all it has done is flex inwards, split horizontally in a couple of places about 30cm long, and then flexed back to shape again. Assuming there is no damage underneth (I wouldnt expect so, bump was at about 5mph) you cant notice the damage unless you press the bumper, and a repaire would be just a new bumper. Im fully fired up to screw this guy over for being a tard, but wwhat effect will this have on my insurance if I have to open another non fault claim with them? Not going to bother with HH this time, jut let my insurance sort it, but just having an open non fault claim has pushed up my permium by 10%, dont really fancy adding another if they are going to screw me on that again aswell...

Re the second case i would personally get a quote for a new bumper and spraying etc from a ford bodyshop. I would then contact him before anything else and see if you can get a cheeky pay off to avoid insurance.

If you car is fine that's free money without any downsides or complications to your insurance later.
