January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

The governing bodies really do need to step in and put a block on a future transfers of this size if it goes ahead. Set a limit for transfers and wages and make teams stick to it.

If he does sign, how long after joining a team 2 points from relegation, no hope of European football next season, no real history and only one decent player will he claim it wasn't about the money?

He has as much hope of winning a meaningful trophy with Man city as he does with Milan. The only way that washed up Milan team will ever win anything is if he goes and the they spend the £100m on 9-10 new players.

I think you probably will find every footballer is in it for the money, so you can’t blame the guy for taking the offer, heck who wouldn’t?

Oh yes, I wouldn't expect him to turn it down. Bet he claims it wasn't about the money though :D

It's no longer being considered, it's been accepted.

It's not been accepted.

Strange times indeed - Milan shouldn't sell though (in my opinion), and the last we heard from Kaka, he didn't seem too keen on the move.

I posted this just after it was reported that Milan had given permission to City to speak to Kaka, so claiming 'acceptance' might have been a bit hasty, but I doubt Milan would do this if they were not resigned to selling. Their continued insistence that they are "evaluating" the bid looks to be to give them an out to save face in the event that Kaka does not agree terms with City, in that Milan can then claim that they never accepted the bid. The situation as it's being reported by every source I have heard or read is that the only obstacle that now remains is agreement on terms with Kaka. This seems like acceptance in every meaningful sense other than actual public acknowledgement of the fact.

Loki that is absolute classic well done :D

I understood the wage offer was equivelant to £500k/week when you have to pay tax - but as he will be paid tax free/offshore it wont be anything like that (comparativly speaking of course :D), will actually be a paltry £12-£13m salary

as a club and and a business its hard to turn it down...it could secure your clubs future for a few years..it will buy 4 or5 of the worlds best players

the only problem now is...no matter how much you pay a player...everybody knows man city can beat it, so if a player at your club does well, there is nothing now stopping man city cherry picking your players...nobody can compete with them..and clubs that do could well ruin themselves

i honestly think UEFA will have to do something as even the likes of Real cannot compete with the money being offered. It effectively kills dead the contract of any player at the worlds top clubs as there is nothing you can do to stop city from taking your assets

agents will be queing up to whore their players behind clubs backs as they will get a cut..and a cut of 100 million quid is a canny wedge

Look at Chelsea now though - its all starting to fall apart in the dressing room

Just because you can buy all the best players - doesnt mean you should, and it doesnt mean they will play well as a team.

Also - as Man Utd has found to some extent or another (with a much richer historical heritage, and present success) its still VERY difficult attracting people to Manchester, especially well known Continental players who want the sun, European lifestyle etc etc

Interesting isn't it, Blatter and that **** Platini spout a load of twaddle when an English club signs some youth from France, that gives the lad a great future, yet when something as ridiculous as a £100m+ signing they say nowt.

At the end of the day, it's going to be City's loss. What club is going to buy him out for the sums of money they are talking about? My only hope is that other players expectation of their worth doesn't become as high.

Some Spurs newstoday is the both Bent and Jenas could be laid down as "sweeteners" to get the players they want.

I think Rednapp is missing the point here.. Are players really going to join a club that is on the brink of relegation?

My sentiments exactly

sorry if posted before but Hull have signed Manucho on loan from Utd for the rest of the season (just waiting for work permit so he can possibly play tomorrow vs Arsenal)

According to Independant anyway

ffs, Whelan is a ****, whats the point in selling our best players, we have become a selling club, I know he is making £13 million pound profit but who are we going to buy to replace him.
