What RPM doing 60, 70 and 80 on a motorway?

In 6th gear in the s2000:
3500rpm @ 60mph
4250rpm @ 70mph
4600ish rpm@80mph

Can't remember what it's like in the mr2.

5th gear on the motorway, in my Renault Megane 2002 fiji, I am doing something like 3200 RM at around 70 and almost touching 4000 RPM when hitting 80. Just sounds a hell of a lot more painful on the engine compared to my old Ford Escort.
That's mathematically impossible in the same gear unless you have some major slippage!

3200 RPM @ 70 MPH = 46 RPM per MPH

80 MPH * 46 RPM = 3680 RPM

Mine is 2750 RPM at GPS 70 in 5th, so:

60 - 2400 RPM
70 - 2750 RPM
80 - 3150 RPM
100 - 3950 RPM

Think it's just under 3k at 70mph in my KV6 MG ZS. Just before the valves open so it's running frugally.

(roughly)
40mph = 2100rpm
50mph = 2700rpm
75mph = 4000rpm
100mph = 5400rpm

sometimes i wish they squeezed a 6speed box in the ST

Yet my mate wont use 5th gear @ 40mph even though its perfectly useable

So my car is geared to 175mph? :eek:

probably, but does it have the power to get it there? (if it was delimited?)

honest question. The gears are probably setup to be "eco friendly", not so it can push 175mph :D
