LG 42" + 5.1 system = no sound

So we recently replaced the Samsung 23" for a LG42"
Everything is setup the same as before.
Our problem is that there is no sound from the PS3 to the Panasonic Sound System, but sound does come out from the TV.
The sound is also fine and working on normal TV such as SKY.
We tried scart (thats what we used before and worked fine)
Then L+R phono leads - (AUX Cable) still nothing....
The Panasonic doesnt have optical out so thats a shame.

What now?

Theres a lot of unwanted noise when turned up
No fixes for this is there?

Tried that, there was no option on that.
My old samsung did it automatically, or didnt even need changing....

Nah, this is fine. And it was fine on the old TV, plus this new TV isnt mine, its my house mates.

Cant you connect the ps3 directly to the sound system rather than going through the tv?

No. the PS3 only has HDMI and Optical, and my sound system doesnt have optical

you can only use one audio output at a time, but you can use any combination of connectors hdmi + analogue output from the av cable works fine
