Company car - closing in on final one i think

Thats sort of my logic Peerzy - i wouldnt buy one with my own money, but as you say all running costs are covered so wcould be worth a punt i reckon' certainly my fave at the mo.

Only issue is if it leaves me stranded a few times it wil really pi..annoy me ;)

I considered an Alfa aswell, but as the car is a tool at times Id rather not have the hassle of getting booked into dealers, chances are you can never get slot straight away, you then have to put up with the niggle for too long.

I looked at the skoda, I think they look nice on the outside, not bad to drive, but I found the steering feedback to be a lacking for a sports car, and the ride is a bit harsh, compared to it competition it feels cheap inside.

Ive done about 80 miles in the C180 i have at the mo, Its a bit too grown up if you want to have a car to drive, the steering wheel is massive, nice inside tho, and handles well when pushed, and looks good.

But its too grown up for me, so im going for the old man Accord Diesel GT:p I looked at the Mondeo, but this current shape just looks so Meh.

Out of your list I would go for the Mazda, its the better car to drive.

Bit dodgy remapping a company car init? You are being taxed directly on the CO2 emissions after all :p

A4 170 here, loves it.

Evem stuff like different model types effect the co2, the merc 180k se is lower than the elegance, same engine, tyres etc etc just extra tat like chrome strips.

This but on the understanding its the least worst rather than the best. (

I would pretty much agree with that.

Mazda looks interesting though.

As for the Alfa?. Nah....steer clear.

Your other two options are way better.

Depending on when you have to decide on what to get, have you considered the Vauxhall Insignia?.

No idea about launch dates or prices ( I think it kicks off at the £16k mark ) etc, but the car itself has been getting some rave reviews.

For reference my GT is just shy of 67k and will be years old in 3 months time. Had a few niggles which I've had looked at when it's been serviced but no more than any other new car I've ever had.

I've also easily been able to book it in within a week at my 2 local Alfa dealers.

Peter - the BM rule is a werid one, but even the country manager doesnt have one (think he has an A6). Its not so much a cost issue, its a presentation issue (would you believe). I work in sales, and it may give the impression we're charging too much (again, would you believ?)

.

I dont really work in sales, more of a Marketing/Business dev role, but its interesting what you say, Ive heard similar comments from clients when they have seen a competitor turn up in a prestige type car ie BMW/JAG, funny thing, the niche industry I look after, all the owners of these companies drive flash motah's:p Its far worse in Europe, all of my counterparts on the mainland get hire cars when they need to see a client.

There are major issues with Mazda 6 Diesels filling the sump with diesel and blowing the engine due to poor design of the particle filter regneration system. In some circumstances this means oil changes every 3k, and if you don't keep an eye of it the engine can blow up. Mazda then refuse to pay out under warranty.

Like I said though the Alfa is unlikely to leave you stranded on the side of the M25 anymore everyweek. The issues are likley to be teething problems with electronics.

I've had to book my Bravo in for it's first piece of warrenty work. Phoned today and got it booked for Wednesday AM (Could have had it in for Monday but I'm at Uni), because the Ciggy lighter power socket has stopped giving any power. 30 mins while I can leave it and go for a drive if I fancy.

I'd seriously consider the Alfa, when you know you've gotta do 100 miles I'd be much happier knowning it's in something fun than an A4.

To be honest on the Motorway there isn't really such thing as a 'fun' car when you've got 100 miles to cover. In this situation, I'd much rather be in the car with the best, most solid interior and the most refinement.

So, the Audi then.

No one said the 100 miles had to be Motorway? I drove from Guildford to Devo (190 mile each way) and avoided all motorways on the way there, and did all motorway on the way back. The way back was only 20 minutes quicker.

A brand new Alfa is not going to have some shocking interior that falls apart after 45 minutes.

Something like the Alfa is still going to be more fun to drive than the Audi.

Fox, now I know you've test driven a few cars in the past but don't recall you ever having done an Alfa? Have I missed this or have you not driven one? Please don't think this is a loaded "You've never driven and Alfa so how can you comment", I'm just interested to know what you've driven and what you thought of it?

Guildford to Devon without Motorways is the A303, it's not the sort of road which you can enjoy a fun car on, lets put it that way.

Mind you, you'd have to go a good 40 miles out of your car to do it all on Motorway, there isn't a direct Motorway route from Guildford to Devon, so I think I'll just call BS and be done with it. That or your sense of direction absolutely sucks. Did you really go all the way up to Bristol, then the M4 all the way to Reading, then back down to Guildford on the way back? What on earth for?

My Alfa experience extends only to passenger rides I'm afraid. There isn't an Alfa dealer around here.

No worries. What where the cars that you've been a passenger in? I'm new to Alfa ownership so have only been in recent stuff.

Renaultsport Megane DCi 175 (or whatever it's called)? Bit smaller than the others though but will have all the toys
