good offline co-op games? RPG, FPS?

UT2004 mods:

Alien Swarm

Top-down coop where you're a squad of marines and need to complete missions involving settings blatently ripped off from the Aliens films.

Killing Floor

Similar to Left4Dead but probably not quite as good. More of a focus on holing up somewhere and surviving successive waves of "zeds" (infected) - more variation of infected types and you also gain cash from around the map/from kills and use it to buy new weapons/ammo/armour between waves.

i would reccomend age of emipres 1 or 2 , and any of the c and c generals games. Always good to do 2 vs the ai. I'd reccomend downloading specfic maps for it though.

Ah sorry didnt see fps or rpg bit doh...

Serious Sam - The First Encounter and The Second Encounter. A great cliche of Doom style mass horde or enemies FPS gameplay.

The older Quake (I, II or III) games or Unreal Tournament, original or 2004.

Diablo or Diablo II? Not sure if it had LAN play since its been such a long time I played these.

Rainbow 6: Vegas 2. I play this coop (campaign and terrorist hunt) with 2 other friends. It has us occupied for hours and is easily our favorite coop game. Highly recommended.

Out-of-the-box game and no extra installs (Except maybe for official patches), Serious Sam beats it :D.

Well, I'll admit that AlienSwarm can be a bit of an arse to setup + get used to :)

I loved SeriousSam for actiony/blastiness - AlienSwarm is far more fun for the right teamwork required, and the excessive references to the Aliens and Predator films :p

Both are good for different things.
