Intel Sempron 2400+ vs Pentium 4 2.8Ghz

Hi all,
I cant seem to find any reviews comparing the above 2, the sempron is currently in the rig and it working and running.
I rescently got a P4 for free and was wondering if it is worth the hassel of chaning them over?

The P4 will be better than the Sempron due to its larger L2 (512kB or 1MB vs 256kB) and faster FSB (400, 533 or 800 MHz vs 333 MHz effective). The Athlon XP 2400+ has a higher clock than the Sempron but a slower bus (266MHz) - it's a better bet than the Sempron, but still not as good as the P4.

Yep, its AMD Sempron.

Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz faster clock and L2 cache makes it better processor than ADM Sempron 2400. The Sempron seems to be very much "overrated".

It's all irrelevant anyway as the P4 won't go into the Semprons motherboard.

Sempron is really targeted towards cheap business computing and terminals, surely? They cost nothing, £15 or less, but they are singly core lower power low cache 'economy' chips, you can run them passive cooled.

Still, for desktop work (none gaming) they are perfectly fine for a budget build.

As cob said if your running a sempron 2400 currently the motherboard will not be compatible with the pentium 4.

Well I'd suggest you just throw the P4 in the bin then.
