Hey im getting a Q9550, should be here in a few weeks.
its my first qaud core, but its also 45 nm.

im planning on overclocking it with Aircooling, so i was wondering is there anything specific i should know bout this chip , it being 45 nm and everything, like loadline calibration, voltages, etc?

will be running it on a Striker II NSE. Any suggestions?

Got mine a few weeks ago and clocked straight to 3.6 by making FSB 425 and leaving everything else on stock, so probably can go much, much further. And still runs incredibly cool - all cores around 26-30 degrees at idle on air, and low 50s on 100% load.

Great proc.

I've just finished messing with mine after setting up my new pc on Thurs. It's running at 4ghz at 1.26v and is really cool (admittedly cooled by water) I still think it could give more than that but it runs rock solid at this setting so may just up it for some benchmarking.

It's an excellent CPU.

Edit:

Here's a pic after 9 hours prime running. Nice and cool. Still waiting for the AS5 to cure too so hopefully I'll get another few degrees off my temps but I am happy with them at the moment. Also, I should add I have an overclocked GTX280 in the same loop as the CPU so it should be even cooler without that! I have a pic of it here if you are interested. Image has been resized so hopefully it's still clear.
