as the title suggests really, i have XP MCE 2005 with the LG BD/HD-DVD drive. now it works flawlessly with powerdvd 7 with anydvd killing off the HDCP.

but how have you got your HTPC set up to handle playing them? for example if you use arcsoft totalmedia theatre its supposed to integrate with MCE, or do you just let them autoplay with PDVD?

basically ive tried mediaportal and ive found it unreliable. the arcsoft method doesnt seem to work for me, the menu option appears in MCE but doesnt work. trying to play BD within arcsoft alone causes it to crash out after the language selection.

so how have you handled it?

I haven't been able to make Media Portal and PDVD to play nice with each other, so I just have Blu-Rays set up to autoplay into PDVD, so that the window appears over the top of Media Portal.

Not pretty, but it works.

mymovies does state that totalmedia is more seamless, i just cant get it to play past the language selection screen on transformers. and like i say it doesnt load through the MCE menu.

powerdvd works for me so i'll probably stick with it..

another vote for Arcsoft TMT and mymovies here. Only issues I had were setup and config or remote using Imon. But nothing that couldn't be worked out

Another happy TMT user it's never given me a moments bother. The MCE integration is great also, and I use AnyDVD HD to sort out HDCP.

am i missing something but mymovies says it will prompt to specify a bd/hd player.. it hasnt.

and why hell does MCE keep telling me messenger isnt installed when a) it is and b) ive turned off the MCE messenger options.

getting a touch frustrated now :(

err okay, log in under a different account and it asked me..

???

anyone know how to get rid of the arcsoft "play bd & hd dvd" button even once its uninstalled?

If you have Power DVD installed it should prompt you after installing my movies to associate Power DVD player, then tell you to restart media centre. The next time you fire up media centre, you should have a MyMovies strip with a Power DVD icon in it, that will launch it. You can always re-skin Power DVD to make it look more like the vmc background or just re-skin both.

P.S. Set Power DVD to start in full screen.

asked me to associate pdvd and restarted MCE but no icon.

going to try a fresh build, i think after so much fiddling and installing/uninstalling stuff trying to get it to work it might of ballsed something up.

will let you lot know if i get it working..

Update KB946648 stuffed MCE. Remove the update and disable messenger in MCE. If you use messenger outside MCE reinstall 946648 otherwise don't bother.

I couldn't be bothered getting PDVD integrated so got a bluetooth mouse which works fine on you knee or chair armrest.:D

I don't use any of these fancy GUIs (yet), I just click and drag Powerdvd to my TV and occasionally use the iPhone as a remote.

right frustration is NOT the word right now.

rebuild XP MCE with PDVD7, AnyDVD and MyMovies. now can someone please tell me where i am supposed to find this - so far - invisible icon in MCE where i can play BD/HD-DVD? even content manager for MyMovies is showing PDVD as the BD integration..
