I had one of these when I was younger, anyone else have one? They were great weren't they.

if i remember correctly they never worked as well as they did on home alone...maybe because i was young and tried the same thing which didnt work

I had one - it was the official thing but I soon realised it wasn't as good as the one in the film. In that when used to reserve a room he slowed down the voice, the original one realised at the same time of the film didn't offer that feature

He recorded an advert on it, then played it back slow speed.

edit - after a quick google they intially released the talkboy - then, after many letters to the company they released the 'deluxe' talkboy like that seen in the wiki link, this featured the same features as the one in the film (playback speeds).

i always wanted on of these at the time, never got one

, was the must have thing at the time so they were hard to get - glad i didnt get one if they didnt have the features it should have.
