January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Steven Taylor = makes the Newcastle defense worse, no matter who is playing

Yes but you gotta love taylor just for his blantant handball then dropping to the floor holding his hands pretending it wasn't a red card :p

he is pap though.

Also you have to remember the price City aren't paying isn't arbitrary, its not we're paying 100million to look cool, its to trigger the clause in his contract so Milan HAVE to let Kaka talk to City's people if they want. IF the Clause was 50mil they'd offer that. Milan were smart and put a ridiculously high clause in to basically make sure no one can afford him unless they want to get rid of him.

I would guess with City in the market now with billions to spend the next round of contracts will all include 250mil clauses instead :p

But really, its not "that" expensive, if they spend 100mil, and that sparks other players to be easier to persaude to come to City for less wages, they'll get a better team, faster, for less inflated wages. If they hit Europe next year thats a 20-30mil bump in income straight away, its not like they'd win anything straight away, but its worth 100mil(a full run including winning the champs league final). If Kaka gets them to that level he'd be worth every penny. Still, I'd buy other great players for semi decent value and buy in a few Kaka level players in 3-4 years when a more established team.

Surely you can see why this is total nonsense? Why would they come for less wages? They will come for more wages now that the standard has been set. £10m bellamy is suddenly a £12m rejection. IF they get a bid accepted his £60k wages are now £120k wages for the simple fact that every player and ever agent in the world now knows that city have a blank cheque.

I'd take both Valencia and Palacios but I don't think we need either unless Scholes/Giggs retire at the end of this season.

Same here - however Bruce has denied that its Utd holding up the Spurs/Palacios transfer, City seem more likley

Valencia may be a replacement for Nani - if the club dont think he has improved enough (whether its right or wrong, that well may be the case considering how little he plays 1st team games)

Complete rubbish that. He doesnt have a clause like that in his contract.
For one, if he did, Milan wouldnt be 'considering it', they'd have accepted it by now. ;)

Indeed, what a load of nonsense.

Milan weren't smart in putting a high release clause in the contract, they'd actually be rather stupid if they put any minimum fee clause in the contract. In Spain a minimum fee clause is required, in Italy it is not.

I had actually heard that RA had lost more than £3-4bn (I work in the city with a lot of traders) - so I wouldnt be surprised if he wants to recoup nearly a £1bn and get out , as Chelsea really need a new stadium also (to compete for years rather than just a few seasons) which could cost £1/2 bn or more easily in the required location

do an Arsenal and completely move would generate a lot of money when the current ground is sold, but they would need a lot of money to develope the new site to start with and then to develope the old site after that before getting any revenue back - or share a stadium (Fulham would be the closest, but I cant see that happening- its even smaller than SB isnt it?) while they redevelope present site , both options would cost vast amounts of money (and the latter could lose them £millions with the smaller capacity, let alone the fixture issues causing headaches)

Chelsea need a richer sugar-daddy to really invest in the team and the stadium, if they sell players , the majority wont get whats been paid for them - and the more home grown ones arent in their best form by any means to command big money transfers (there are some decent kids, but they still need experience around them)

I really dont think RA has the stomach for it any more

Develop doesn't have an e on the end.

I don't think Chelsea will be able to bring in a person with more money than Abramovic. Add to that the fact that Kenyon has bleated since he arrived about the club being self-sustaining by next season.

Not that I believe that, mind.

bellamy just been spotted coming out of Eastlands
