Or are they all competitors?

Car still has the OEM cassette player, looking at getting a USB one. I hear they're ludicrously cheap given the current economic climate?

Recommendations welcome too, car has 4 woofers, one in each door, and two tweeters, also in the doors. Through some miracle they all still work. I also hate stupid quantities of light, so SONY is banned from this thread.

I know you said sony is banned but you cant beat this for £75 brand new and most of the flashy graphics can be turned off.

I picked one up a few weeks back and im happy with it.

Do you have to hold the power button to turn it off, as opposed to just putting it into demo mode. Something else which annoyed me about NOSY.

Yes you hold the source button or press off on the remote to turn off or press source to go into standby

I definitely want the USB port on the front.

My brother (the one that crashes) uses a Blaupunkt only store, managed to get the sort of thing I'm after with a colour dot matrix screen for about £130. Going to have a look there too when he's on MSN.

The sony above has a rear usb but its on a lead about 1m long so you can put it into the glovebox.

Wow, that seems like quite a bargain. I'm half-expecting there to be some kind of annoying thing about it to explain why it's so cheap.

I have this Kenwood HU from marketplace (seller is CarAudioSecurity who do have a website but postage is cheaper through Marketplace.

It has a 1m USB lead which comes out of one of my switch blanks, and has an Ipod lead if I need it. Also 2 preouts which can be hard to get at this pricerange.

Very happy with it.

That Sony above is USB and has 3 preouts, that's going to be hard to beat for the money. Bargain - I just prefer Kenwood stuff that's all.
