I know debt is much talked about at the moment, and the majority of people have debt no matter how small. Sooo I was wondering how people are sitting debt wise at the moment...

I have the following debt... (not including a mortgage)

Student Loan - £4,000
Credit Card - £600

Total - £4,600

How's everyone else doing on the debt front?

Badly :( lol.
£900 in overdraft
£3000 Credit Card.
Total £3900

Made it a new years resolution(more of a plan actually) to cut back my spending as much as possible, and try and get things paid off ASAP.
Only been out once since New Year, But just had to fork out for insurance on the bike, and rent has to come out my pay as well. Although, I've pretty much just been eating Rice and Pasta for the past several days lol.
Just a bit of a PITA, Was unemployed for 2 months, and I'm still playing catch up on my finances.

credit card 1 = 5000
credit card 2 = 1500
credit card 3 = 1000

so, £7,500

the funny thing is i got enough money saved to pay most of it off but I just cant bring myself to do that.

I'm a little wreckless with money.... Hell with it, only live once, right.

Student loan: £18,600  (Probably more with interest)
Overdraft: £1200

Total = £20,600

Uni is a fantastic thing isn't it :(

no debt im paying interest on yet, but when i leave uni i will have

~£30k student loan debt
£1200 overdraft.
can pay the overdraft off with my savings though whenever they start making in non interest free

Zero debt.
1 mortgage in England and about to get another in the States (but think of them more as investments :))

I'm about £5,000 in debt (credit cards, finance). I've paid off my overdraft and the rest is manageable.

I'll have it all paid off in about 6 months, without incurring any interest :)

Around £3800 - Bank loan.

Oh, and £400 overdrafts, over 2 accounts. But i'm unemployed at the moment, so they're getting hammered.

lol, that's 50p worth of advice!

Yes, but it's 50p worth of very good advice.

Paying out masses of interest on accounts that you can clear is simply madness.

I suspect that you feel that the debt on the credit card isn't quite as "real" as the hard-cash savings you have in the bank. A lot of people seem to have this issue, and this is one of the main reasons people get into bad credit card debt.

Pay off the cards and stop throwing your hard-earned money at the banks!
