Who here is going back to vista after trying windows 7
Who here is going to stay with windows 7

Oh and why

Please though no flaming each other over an os it isn't worth it. :(

If I'm completely honest I've not really noticed much of a difference between the two so far, apart from the taskbar and getting used to the tiling of buttons.
I dont know what I'll do yet, since I've already got a paid license for vista, so I may well go back to that for no other reason than cost.

Of course, if they give their beta users a free license... that would complicate it greatly.

I quite like the look of Windows 7 so far and will probably go to it when it's released. It has some nice features that Vista should have always had :)

Depends how easy MS make it to move to W7. I'm on XP and I think I'll move over this time (never could justify the cost of Vista to myself before - not a flame just a cost thing really). I like W7, looks nice, not too many silly things on it and it appears to work quite well straight out of the box even at this stage.

However, knowing MS there will probably be 15 different variants "starting from £199.00". There may yet be some mileage in my trusty old XP.

Did an in-place upgrade of my Vista64 machine on Saturday afternoon - so far all is well. The only thing it didnt like was Powershell (and that was handled in the upgrade process).

I'm pretty sure there will be no direct route to go from beta to a public release of the OS but I'm not so concerned about that. Rebuilding is fast and easy since I seperated my data from my PCs and that particular box doesn't have anything more than a couple of games and MS Office on it.

So far my impressions are that it is revisionary rather than revolutionary but I like it. Feels like Vista 1.1 to me and not very 'beta' at all. And that can only be a good thing in my book.

Having tried 7 on my laptop, it seems to run much more smoothly than Vista out of the box. I may well buy a 7 license for my PC, but stick with XP on my laptop when all is said and done.

this.

Think of it as XP (7) vs 2000 (vista)

Isn't it the other way round? Vista was built from the ground up whereas W7 is only an incremental update.

Their effects on the market could be the way round you describe. I'm expecting more people to go for Windows 7 than Vista and for W7 to be the next 'big' Windows OS after XP.

Personally I'm using Vista until I get the retail version of W7. I have too many important files to risk using W7 as my main OS.

As my main computer is the family computer and uses vista there wont be an upgrade for a little bit due to family have got used to vista, and my father would complain about some stuff not working as i havnt set it up yet, especially Battlefield 2 accounts and rubbish.
But yes once after a couple of months where any major bugs are fixed then i probaly will.
I was very much impressed.
Ohh yeah, aslong the price isnt ridculous.

 2000 was a major release, and XP was a minor update to it. The same as Vista was a major release and 7 is a minor update to it. I can't see how it could be the other way round?!
