Hi there

have just bought a new base unit and need a new monitor and would appreciate some advice before I order:)
Base unit spec is E8500 processor / 4 gig ram , vista 64 , ATI Radeon HD 4870 PCI-E x16 1GB DDR5 Video Card
Use will be mainly wow , some Excell stuff, general web surfing
Budget is around £250 delivered, maybe another £40 if its worth it

My short list is

Iiyama ProLite E2607WS [PC Pro] - 26" - approx £280

BenQ G2400W 9J.0BJ72.JSE - 24" - Approx £250

i fancy the 26" - but can't find any reviews or anywhere local that stocks it

Q anyone got the Iiyama one or can suggest any good alternatives?
Thanks
Peter

Another vote for the Samsungs.

I personally have the Samsung SM2693HM 26" Widescreen monitor and though expensive, it was well worth it in the end. The smaller variants are just as good. And it looks like OcUK are stocking the T2XX (Touch of Colour series) versions of the monitors again and those are also great for the glossy and colour tints.

Many of the 24" variants are well within the £250 budget. The "BW" are the cheaper ones with only VGA & DVI. The more expensive ones, designated with the "HM" along with the T2XX series have VGA/DVI/HDMI.

Can those who own the Samsung SM2443BW please confirm that it has both DVI and VGA inputs? And I can plug two PC's in, one into each input and switch between them easily?

It has both DVI and VGA. You can hit the source button on the front to change between the two pretty quickly.

Bledd, how's the gaming on that screen? Any problems with fast action? Not sure if the Samsung SM2443BW will be a better buy.

no issues at all :), i only use it for gaming too, CSS and TF2 look awesome on it, Valve games tend to have more problems than others with cheap screens, but it looks perfect on this imo, no ghosting (as far as i can tell)

if i wasn't 100% happy, i'd've sent it back :)

i borrowed my mate's DGM24 va for about 3 weeks before using this, and for me, this is a nicer size, and the build quality is a lot better on this

-edit, just noticed your DGM thread, get this, you won't be dissapointed

Thanks for the info! Yeah looking for a screen with a better warranty as well, heard Dell are pretty good.

How did you find the DGM 24 VA image quality in comparison to the Dells? Any noticable difference?

Also I notice in one of the reviews on the dell website that it mentions there is no dedicated button to switch between input sources, how do you go about this? Might be a pain as I have two Pc's hooked up to my current monitor.

Hmm, tempted but the 1080p resolution puts me off.

The OcUK product page states: "Warranty : 3 year next business day exchange supplied by Manufacturer." so not sure if they do the 4 year offer. Also OcUK are out of stock, with no ETA!

Well I've just ordered my Samsung SM2443BW for £215, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow!
