Lets hope it gets better quickly!

From what i have seen on Aquiss forum seems they are adding more and more bandwith Edinburgh is main one at minute due to how overloaded it is.

I'm having these issues as well. I've been in touch with Entanet support and all they can tell me is that they are "aware" of the issues.
I wish they would just hurry up and add more bandwidth. I only started having these problems (around 0.6 Mbit downloads on a full 8128k sync) this weekend. I appreciate that it's the weekend and they probably don't have the staff present to do the work but shoudn't they bring more staff in for things like this? Then again...credit crunch...

I dunno....

What I don't understand is that some people are getting poor speeds even on nodes which show lots of capacity to spare.
Some guy on TBB is getting under 1MB despite being on the City of London node which is showing less than 85%.

That really is strange and I've experienced that myself. Seems like Entanet have just switched on some limiting thing on purpose while they are working on the thing.

I guess their reasoning is that its either 600k each or let the whole network fall on its rear-end.

At least I hope that's the reason as this can't be permanent can it??

I read that the new nodes can be updated in hours rather then weeks if new bandwith is needed which is good.

I think its just going to be a while before it settles down but eventually it will well i hope. :)

Bear in mind here, Enta were brave enough to be the first ISP to move to 21CN infrastructure (aside from BT themselves). Given that for all the testing done, this is the first mass move of users to the network, some issues were inevitable really.

Perhaps more importantly, every ISP virtually is going to go through this particular bit of pain so moving ISPs to another ADSL provider is likely just going to give you the opportunity to go through it all again in a few months.

Maybe you don't like that Enta volunteered their users to be guinea pigs for the work but they are investing in their network at least and there's no guarantee it'll go more smoothly for anyone else. So if I was in your shoes personally, I'd give it a couple of weeks to settle down rather than doign the headless chicken thing and jumping ship...

Another one here with erratic speeds since being moved to IPSC.

Currently getting 480kb/s which is about normal. Last night was lucky to 80kb/s

I totally agree with you. Enta are brave but you do get a lot of people complaining. It's the difference between knowing the facts and understanding the facts.

There's also a lot to be said for their approach in publishing outage info on noc.enta.net and the real-time central capacity graphing. It's an approach not enough ISPs take, giving the customer more information helps confidence at the end of the day.

You're right about knowing the facts and understanding though, I've built ISP networks so I know what they're facing to an extent, I guess a typical user's viewpoint is different...

I think most people are just frustrated with the lack of communication from Enta.

Maybe but there's a line, they tell people far more than most ISPs do and for 99% of users anything more is pointless - 'We're seeing packet loss due to congestion on the MSILs' isn't terribly helpful for most...

It's typical users find it easier to complain rather then say something nice.
All ISP's are going to have to start this soon or face using BT's IPSC and pay a lot more which they may end up passing to end users.

well tbh its not that at all its us paying for a service and receiving 10 * less than what we normally get for a weekend with no prior notice.

I received a email from UKFSN in all honesty but it nowhere said that i would have a reduced service or possibly would have had a reduced service.

If it had said, we may expect some teething problems and therefore your service maybe temporarily reduced for 2-3 days while we complete the changeover.

I wouldn't have given the drop I had a second thought simply because of how fantastic a service UKFSN have given me in the 18 months I have been with them.

I'd heard fairly recently that pricing would remain consistent across current BT central products and IPSC going forward.

Could be wrong and I haven't paid a lot of attention (I'm pushing the case for WBC and a network expansion to provide our own backhaul to the APs instead of using MSILs)
