Someones nicked me website!

I'd still send them a pissy email to let them know you've busted them. Nothing worse than someone who thinks they've got away with something, even if you dont care that much!

Wow the image compression on their site is horrid. How lazy do you need to get to not even bother changing the text!?!?!?

Are you going to give the guy a slap and demand credit for the Java work or would you rather not be associated?

Without sounding rude, your website is very similar to many internet image galleries. That circular timer thingie I have seen on umpteen photographers sites? Perhaps he did steal yours, but yours simply shows some thumbs which enlarge with a circular timer. Am I missing something? I honestly do not mean to be rude though :)

Read the text at the bottom.

As I said, I don't really care about the JS, that's why its not hidden. And yeah, it's not got a lot of difference, I implemented a random image flash that I haven't seen before... I'm sure someone will have done it elsewhere!

But the source in their site is directly taken from my site, the wording has been directly copied, and yet they had the audacity to say "Design by Sean whatever".

I find that quite rude.

Ok, have read the bit at the bottom now. He has done nothing wrong though unless you have copyrighted/patented the design, has he? I do agree its a bit cheeky, although I'd be flattered rather than anything else. I'd be more upset had it been the photography he was stealing rather than your webskills. Nice site by the way. :)

Thanks :)

I never said he'd done anything wrong, I just said the "designed by..." bit made me , thats all :)

I stumbled on a site built with wordpress a while ago that was a blatant copy of my flash site (my main portfolio site, not my wordpress blog) with almost identical layout, colour scheme etc. It didn't navigate quite the same as it was built with wordpress and not flash but the overall look was exactly the same. I sent an email saying it was a nice site and very familiar looking...lol

Never heard back, but I guess copying a site is a compliment! :)

I really like how the image alt text hasn't been changed from your site. Especially the one picture of a woman that says 'dragon' :D

I'm not even sure the photos are his. If you look at the photos you will see a copyright symbol and Azmotofoto.

A quick google.....

http://www.azmotofoto.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=11926

Checked the owner information for the two sites, different names but both are from Arizona.

In case there is any doubt - the guy has definitely copied the site - check the alt tags for the latter thumbnails - s/he has copied these directly too - a pretty shoddy job.

Out of interest H_J how did you find out?

I'd send the owners an email anyway, not being rude but letting them know that the site they paid to be designed hasn't actually been, and was just poorly ripped off. Apparently the photography is by someone called Mike so he might well have employed someone to create a site for him. Let him know and he can take it up with his web designer.

Finally decided to send something!
Will post if I get any response :)

Hello there,

I was just wondering if you made your website yourself or if you paid for it.
I only ask because it is my website, directly copied. Therefore if you paid someone for this, you should ask for your money back ;)

They havent even changed the alt-text in the thumbnails:

<a href="index_pix/10.jpg" rel="lightbox[All]"><img style="opacity: 0.48; visibility: visible;" src="index_pix/thumbs/10.jpg" alt="Damselfly" title="Damselfly" id="Damselfly" onmouseover="highlightImage(id);" onmouseout="initImage(id);"></a>

On a picture of a woman...

The page in question: http://citaphotography.com/

The page that has been copied (the layout, theme, javascript and source for which is copyright protected, incidentally...): http://www.tiltedsky.net

Kind Regards,

-Matt (Webmaster and owner of TiltedSky.net and the digital content therein)
