OK, so everyone is going crazy over this guy for the next few days, yes I know he is black, yes I know he is the first non white president etc etc ( this is all the coverage seems to be about ), but the underlying question is, is he any good at doing this job ?

Dont really give a toss about the colour of his skin, makes no odds to me.

Will he be a good president and I hope he was elected because of this reason.

He was elected because of his skin color, sorry to say, no media coverage that i have seen has been based on policies, just YEAHHHH MR BLACK IN DA HOUSE etc....

He will be better than what is in power at present

I reckon it's just excitement that someone who seems more together than Bush will be taking the reigns. I don't begrudge them some optimism.

That's not how I've seen it at all.

Media coverage doesn't equal votes, though, does it?

Obama was a good candidate, but the Republicans have such a huge image problem at present that pretty much any generic Democrat would have won the election.

Can't wait for tomorrow when the limousine stops and out steps Obama, dressed in Crips colours, bandanna and a '9' tucked into his waistband. Only to then Crip walk to the podium, loose a few caps into the air and proclaim with a mighty shout "'sup ******?"

That would make my day!

It's a good point. In terms of experience, he is not the right choice to be leading the US, he lacks (or lacked) knowledge of economics and defense (which are pretty important at the moment!). I think people in the US wanted a change from Bush more than anything, he could just have 2 GCSE's and he'd probably still have won because of the desire for change and his chirisma (sp?). Saying that isn't he a law grad from Harvard so he can't be that much of a retard

Be glad that we don't have John McCain, who apparently openly admitted that he 'doesn't really understand economics'!

He was elected because it was either him, or grampa, I mean McCain.
