Obama hysteria

On London Tonight it was just banging on about how the black community in London are going to be going wild tomorrow ... why just them? Why not London citizens in general? His colour has nothing to do with it and why British people are celebrating anyway is another question. Meh.

he was elected because of his skin colour, thats all there is to it

+ He had better policies than other candidates, and a great campaign.
+ He is a democrat.
+ He is young.
+ He isn't McCain.

Sure some people voted because of his colour, but the majority didn't.

I wonder how long it is before some wacko outfit campaigns to get his residence changed to 'The Blackhouse'. In this day and age I wouldn't put it past them you know.

OK, so everyone is going crazy over this guy for the next few days, yes I know he is black, yes I know he is the first non white president etc etc ( this is all the coverage seems to be about ), but the underlying question is, is he any good at doing this job ?

Dont really give a toss about the colour of his skin, makes no odds to me.

Will he be a good president and I hope he was elected because of this reason.

What coverage have you been reading? I was just having a conversation about this last week about how that aspect was falling out of the media and his political credentials were centre stage.

They can campaign for anything they want, it's a free(ish) country. Doesn't mean it's going to happen. Obama certainly wouldn't support it.

Firstly, he isn't black he is mixed race.

I can't wait for the next few years, primarily just to see the smug smiles wiped off the faces of those that are fawning over the new messiah when they finally realise he is just as useless as the rest of them.

Without googling, I challenge any one of you to actually state one of the policies that he intends to implement that will change America and, according to his supporters, the world. No, thought not.

Style over substance.

A shift towards an energy efficient nation.

And change. General change, which is always good.

Perhaps because after years of repression, segregation and institutionalised racism a mixed race/black person is perhaps now the leader of the worlds most powerfull country?

and of course we can celebrate, bush had a large impact on the UK.. i.e uk joining the 'war on terror' etc.

It's a good point. In terms of experience, he is not the right choice to be leading the US, he lacks (or lacked) knowledge of economics and defense (which are pretty important at the moment!).

You mean as opposed to Bush, who completely failed to protect his country from a massive terrorist attack, launched two failing wars and left the economy on its knees?

Yes Bush is a bit of 'tard, but I'd like to know how anyone could protect against what happened on 9/11. Suicide bombers/missions are nigh on impossible to counteract, and if you do manage to act in time you get all the human rights nutters on your arse for shooting first.

Plenty of attacks have been foiled, you just don't hear about the bombs that didn't explode.

The problem wasn't so much that he didn't stop 9/11, it's that he completely messed up America's response. Invading Iraq to stop Islamic terrorism is one of the dumbest military moves of the United States' history, especially when you're already involved in a tough war in Afghanistan.
