This is based in North Staffordshire, but I think it's open to anyone. [edit: the subject has to be in or around one of the North Staffordshire towns listed]

From http://www.uvns.org/Homephotographiccompetition.htm:

You are invited to take part in our fourth annual photgraphic competion and exhibition by submitting photographic work that is inspired by the title "Home". What comes to your mind when you think of home? When you have been away and return, what makes you feel you are home?

The deadline for entries is Monday 2nd March 2009
.

I won a £50 J****ps voucher in the Newcastle-under-Lyme category last year which went towards a new tripod (after my previous one had rolled into a river...).

When I've been away and return, it's usually around about Junction 15 on the M6 when I feel 'home' again!

That's a nice subject for a comp. Thanks for the tip-off!

And uh... how did you roll your tripod into a river? :/

i waned to enter this;

as when i lived in Stafford, when I could see the castle from the M6 it felt like I was home.

buuttt i can't because Stafford isn't on the options list. got some shots from Kidsgrove, but they're hardly homely!!

Oh yes, apologies, I should have said that. Although I think it's open to anyone, the subject has to be in or around one of the towns listed.

Well...it was on what wasn't much of a steep descent, at an angle against it and in a squarish-shaped case. As I was lining up to take a photo it started rolling slightly, from behind me, but then stopped so I looked away. Then it continued on past me and down a ten foot drop into a river that looked quite deep. I managed to take some low-shutter-speed waterfall shots without it and luckily it was only a cheap one. I thought I'd be much more careful with my new expensive one, only to drop a bit of it over a cliff in Croatia. Fortunately someone had monkey-climbing skills was able to retrieve it for me!

Woohoo, I won the Stoke category with "Josiah" looking onto Stoke Station.

It was only taken a couple of days before the date for submissions ended. I had a bit of time to spare while I was waiting for a train and realised I didn't know what the outside of the building looked like...

I won £50 and a book. I don't know whether to put the money towards a new camera, save it for my holiday or use it to enter some competitions that have a fee...

nice one
