Prime 95 or Orthos? To test OCing?

Yeah, prime seems a bit more popular nowadays but both will do you, another you can look at is intel burn test, though id run prime first for half hour make sure its not horrible unstable. IBT is very demanding and your chip temps rise fast, it tends to find errors faster if there are any though

How much does it raise the temps by? Not unsafe I hope

When I used Intel Burn Test, it raised my CPU temps about 4 degrees higher than with prime95.

From what I've read tho it's an incredibly fast and efficient way to determine if your overclock is stable.

I use Intel burn test for 1 hour, IBT seems to stress the CPU a lot more and show if my system is stable in less amount of time compared to Prime95.
I read somewhere, unofficial, that 1 hour of IBT is roughly the same as 14 hours of Prime94. Dont quote me on that but it works for me.
And temps can rise a good 10-15 C above prime95.

So if my temps were 40c on idle, what should I expect them on IBT?

60c?

On the i7 processors Intel Burn side doesn't stress it as much as Prime 95 and small FFT.

I monitored my temperatures and power usage and Prime 95 gets them much higher (might be diferent for the older cpus).

I passed Prime 95 for around 4 hours and OCCT for 2 hours and when did IBT it just stopped and found error.
So i think IBT better than any other out there atm. I only use IBT now :)
