LOTRO Free Trial and anyone still play?

I wouldn't worry about that, half the people playing mmo's today have no idea how to interact with other players either :D

If you're on the free trial you can't speak one to one with other players unfortunately (using /t to send a 'tell') but if you do buy the game start a character on Laurelin and I'll be happy to give you a hand (Telrian or Caldir in-game).

Typing /who followed by the character name will tell you if they're online.

Cheers for the info, is it possible to transfer your Character between worlds, or do you need to start a new one in each.

As I say, I am new to all of this.
 
It's possible, but they'll charge you a fee for doing so, and you're not guaranteed that your characters names will be available in the world you're transferring to. If you're level 10 or under you'll make the levels back up pretty quickly on a new character though.

+1 pretty much ^^, which world are you on, we have a great kin on Gilrain if your on there.

Can wear heavy armor now woupp, how does the appearance tab works I did not really understand?

ok appearance tabs.

so you pick up two peices of chest armour, one has great stats but looks poo. the other has rubbish stats but is a gleaming mass of metal and spikes (or what ever u like )

you would obviously want the stats for your character so u equipt the rubbish looking one. you can then open appearence tab 1 and place the good looking chest in the chest of the tab, click show appearence rather than show equiptment and u will now see the good looking peice of armour but get the stats from the other.

you can set up two appearence tabs and easily switch between the appearences of your character.

also note that once a item is placed into the appearance tab you dont have to keep it in your bag taking up space it can be stored in a vault or even sold and u will stil be able to use its appearance untill ypu next unequipt it from the slot.

decided to buy this game tonight as it's only 15€ from codemasters.

Paid by paypal I have a receipt but my trial account stays closed although my subscription says ended if I try to reactivate it I get the message that my current subscription ends on 19/2/2009 kinda disappointed as I was looking forward to it tonight :(

Sent a mail to codemasters asking for help.

Failing to be grabbed by this game and i really want to as well.

All the classes seem boring and all mixed up.

I've just tried the Captain and the Champion.

Not sure if I'm going to last the 14 day trial sadly and i really wanted to enjoy this game as well.
 
I do like Lotro a lot but the crafting system has really started to annoy me. I'm gaining reputation with the Tailor's Guild quite nicely and I'm not a huge distance away from reaching kindred standing, which entitles me to the top tier of recipe rewards. The only problem is that a key ingredient for those rewards is an item I can only craft a single time per week. So I can only make a maximum of 52 in an entire year, which is enough for 7 full sets of medium armour with cloak...or to look at it another way, it'll take me 7 weeks to reward myself after the slog of progressing up the through the tiers and gaining reputation with the guild, wahey...:rolleyes:

Would you prefer it to be like wow where you can skill up to max level in a day and craft what you like. They not stupid enough to just hand quality gear to everyone on a plate lie Blizzard do these days.

Its a good incentive to craft the stuff knowing that at the end of the 7 weeks you've got some quality kit that you worked hard for.

It will be just about enough incentive for me to get my own set sorted out, but I had planned to make my abilities available to craft sets for other people. There's no way however that I'm going to continuously put in the amount of effort that those recipe rewards require.

Yeah but that stuff is the absolute top of the range, it's not like it's the only stuff you can craft, you can make some bloody good crafted stuff without the guild recipes. There'd be no value to the really good stuff if you could just churn out as much as you wanted.

It's actually the fact that the classes aren't just mirrors of the standard classes found in other games that makes them interesting. Captain is one of the most versatile classes I've ever played, although they (and most other classes) don't start to get going until the mid 20's. Up until about 15 they don't have much to differentiate them.

Champions bored me to tears mind you :p
