Hello to everyone!

I just have a quick couple of question about my D40.

I recently got a Nikon D40 for christmas and it is amazing. The only problem I have had (and it isn't with the camera) is that the strap that came with it gave way when I was carrying my camera and the camera fell to the floor. Now is it me or is there a design problem with the strap? My camera fell to the floor and landed on the lens, The lens now clicks in the same place when focusing. Do you know whether Nikon will replace the lens?

Well I would guess you or who ever put the strap on the camera did it wrong, as I have a D40 and I followed the instructions supplied and the strap fites on very securely, indeed, even adjusting it is not very easy.

Don't know whether Nikon will replace it, but you could call them and ask? Does the lens actually still work?

The strap on my D60 is stronger than an ox on steriods, Nikon will argue that you failed to correctly attach the strap most likely. Unless there is a genuine problem with the strap you probably wont have a leg to stand on unfortunately.

Thanks for letting me know, but I got someone at college to put the strap on for me, as I wanted to make sure that it went on properly, now my college have several D40 all with the straps on.

But thanks anyway.

My bro got a D60 for christmas and when I put the strap on it didn't feel secure at all, took a quick look at the instructions and it wasn't on right, changed it and there's no way the camera is falling off the strap now.

Sorry dude. That's where you failed. If you wanted to make sure it was done properly, like many things in life you should have done it yourself... Is this person going to give you money for a new lens?

It doesn't just do up like a buckle, it sort of doubles back twice over, pretty secure, the same size strap is used on my D300and that's twice the weight, if you pull on it it just gets tighter, not looser if it's done properly.

LOL, are you Homer Simpson or something?

Stap on my D40 is secure as anything, but it took me a couple of minutes to understand how to loop the straps back on themselves.

On the bright side, it gives you an excuse to upgrade the lens? :p
