Ok I've upgraded to a 4870x2, and as you know these require 1x 6pin PCI-E and 1x 8 pin PCI-E connections.

Now the 6 pin I have no problems ofc, I have a Corsair HX520 Modular PSU and have found what looks to be an 8 pin Connection also but this is braided and comes hard wired from the PSU, is this ok to use as the 8 pin PCI-E connector ?

I've checked the Corsair site and they call it a 'EPS/ATX12V 8-4 pin' ??

Having read that some Gfx cards works with the 6 pin PCI-E in the 8 pin slot I tried it but just got a red message on teh screen saying it hasnt got the power connections it needs so I guess I'm stuck lol.

Didnt know Corsair sent out those Loadsa thanks!, is it free or do yiou have to pay for em ?

I have actually ordered a 2x molex to 8 pin PCI-E adapter, will that do ?

Thanks!

Both my HX PSUs had a six-pin to six-pin lead with an extra two on a flying lead at one end. Is yours different?
The 8-pin you mention should go into the mobo only.

I think my HX520 is from an older batch from what I've read, the newer ones do come with a 6+2 pci-e connector, it seems mine doesnt tho :(

That's correct though the X2 card should have come with some connectors and adapters... usually a 2x 6pin to 1 x 8pin.... you can just plug in a single 6pin to the adapter and the card will never know!

No adapters came with my card unfortunately :(

I tried the 6 pin in the 8 pin plug as I hear they are basically the same bar some gorund connections, but I just got a red message onscreen saying I didnt have the correct power connections.

1 question, will the 2x molex PCI-E adapter be able to supply enough watts as its not coming off a dedicated PCI-E rail ?
