Well they'll hardly say "Our cards are poop" will they??

Not a very clever answer mate!!! just posting infomation relating to GPU's in the GPU thread..............so roll your neck back in.

Back on topic ATI have lost the slot to the green team but makes for a good read.

Well.. At least the charts start at 0... <_<

Typical marketing smoke and mirrors though, people buying those cards wont pay it any notice.

ATI are claiming victory with the 4870X2 at 2560x1600
NVidia are claiming victory with the GTX295 at 1920x1200

Don't believe me? Go check out most of the reviews. The GTX295 is the winner in almost every test until the resolution is cranked up to 2560x1600, or if the AA is cranked up really high.

Wasn't a personal dig, no offense intended, sorry. :) I was just highlighting that each company will tout themselves as being the messiah in graphics, so you shouldn't trust their results.

Obviously just more evidence of epic gains in the 9.1 drivers. ;)

I hope so! ;)

I honestly believe the 295 has backfired somewhat on nvidia, it just hasnt conquered the 4870x2 in the way it was expected to.

Theres no doubt its a superb card ofc, but they are too close in performance to warrant the £65-100 more the GTX 295 is costing.

Lordy.. ATi stooping to nvidias level. I always thought they were above that (I'm talking purely from a marketing POV.. hardware/driver wise NV are clearly superior)

SLI GTX285 smokes anything right now. SLI has better gaming support than Crossfire as Nvidia created relationships with the developers. ATI have no such program.

I tried ATI 4850 & 4870 last summer but as many others have said the drivers are just poor in some games and their driver team are slow to respond as they have limited resources.

Nvidia cards offer a more consistent FPS for minimum rates so are more playable. ATI cards look strong on paper but real world difference is not as impressive. DDR5 should be a big boost but its not for real world gaming.

Price wise ATI are obviously leading by a long way right now.

Tri-SLi GTX 285's I presume ?, I should think 4870x2's in Quadfire would cause dual GTX 285's some hassle.

Sorry I miss understood your comment, its just too many people post bad things to increase their post count.

ok in those specific tests where they've purposely positioned the cards so that the 295 is at a VRAM disadvantage. But in real world useage with resolution and settings most people run the 295GTX is by far the better card.

Tho fair point I guess that when you completely max things out the X2 puts up better numbers, but you don't really get playable performance with either of those cards with those settings.
