Free e-Cookie to those who can answer these two questions:

1) Why do some sprinter type vans have only two rear wheels and some have four?

2) What do the buttons above the door handle on Lincoln Town cars do?

1) Depends on their load rating, higher load rating = more tyres to take the load.
2) Not sure, and tbh have never noticed buttons above towncar door handles

You mean these?:

The keypad the driver’s side door lets you unlock the doors - and prevents the engine from starting unless the right combination is entered.

Been on them since 1981!

Another new feature, the keypad entry system, allowed access to the vehicle via a factory-programmed (or self-programmed alternate) five digit combination. From the keypad, you could lock all doors, or, after entering your code, unlock the vehicle's doors or open the trunk lid. With this system being linked only to the vehicle, rather than a satellite, the need for drivers to share their identity with an operator in a potentially unsecure environment is not required. This popular feature is still in use on many Lincoln, Mercury and Ford vehicles.

On new ones they're now concealing them quite nicely in the b-pillars:

The town car keypad isn't as good an idea as you'd think.

there's only 5 buttons and a while back someone posted the optimal sequence to type that tries every possible code in the shortest period of time, it wasn't actually that long either as there's no enter key or anything so if the codes was 8 6 4 2 then you could enter 468642 and it would let you in. Worst case scenario was about 5 minutes to get into the car.

As for the Sprinter van tyres, it's probably a lot cheaper to have four normal sized tyres than two really wide ones.
