... Start applying for jobs?

seeing as companies are cutting jobs rather then giving, but besides that when is a good time to start applying? i am thinking next month or soon anyway before uni ends.

for people who have graduated and working in graduate schemes, when did you started applying for jobs?

Quite a few people from my course have applied already, some started as early as October. I however haven't started yet as I really don't know where to apply or what job I'd like to do.

Back in the day in my final year I applied in the January. Took me right up until July to finally get a job though.

Started applying in September, months of pain later and I finally have a grad job to look forward to after this summer... (assuming I get a 2:1)

EDIT: To answer the question, if you haven't started applying yet get on it ASAP!

I know a few who started applying before christmas in their final year and had offers by this time of year but equally others who applied later and did well (and others who never really did :p)

I'd at least be actively considering different positions and getting a few applications out there, also obviously ensure your CV is up to date and of sufficient quality.

Same mate, have no idea! Doing Surveying but have no interest in it at all. Does'nt help trying to get a decent degree having no interest! :(

I'm doing Electronic Engineering (specialising in Digital Electronics), there's such a variety of jobs I could go into but I have no idea which I want to do.

yea im looking for a graphic design job, so not sure how grad schemes goes compared to people thats doing other subjects etc, so am a bit confused, and to make matters worst i dont actually know where to start looking for jobs nor what companies to apply to!

graphics design can be a difficult industry to get into, my friend graduated in the summer from a graphic design degree and she said you had to basically go to graphics companies with a portfolio, show off and ask em for a job, regardless of if they've been advertising one or not. She didn't really want to do though. She now works for an in-house graphic design department for a book publisher.

You should start as early as possible, there will definitely be some applications available already. My boyfriend graduated this summer, and everyone in his class managed to get a graduate position eventually, but the ones who waited found it a lot more difficult. One of his friends only just got a job, and that was the first one he was offered.

ASAP to be honest mate. I graduated in July and am still unable to find a paid job-been doing unpaid work experience. I really regret not looking for jobs during my final year...

3 million unemployed by the end of 2009, I'd not bother guys. Just bum yourself around Europe or Australia for five years, then come back and see if you can get a job.

I applied January and interviews and assessment centres etc. through Feb and March and by April I had two offers and signed the contract with one of them.
