Any info on the place?

I'm really really thinking about saving and buggering off there for a week or so for a photography trip :)

Everytime I see a picture of it...

It just looks STUNNING...

So has anyone been there? can they recommend anywhere thats particularly good to go? thats photogenic?

Or any websites with extra info would be great, cheers all :)

I lived there for a year. It really does have some amazing scenery. I was living in Lausanne so can definitely recommend the lac leman region. Looking across the lake to france and the snow capped mountains rising from the lake is rather cool.

Twice. Both times to Chur (My favourite place in the WORLD).

You want views like that? Splash a bit of cash on a trip from Chur to Tirano (In Italy) and back again in the Rhatische Bahn train. I think it's called the Bernina Express. It'll knock your socks off.

I hear the Glacier Express is even more stunning but I haven't had a chance to go on it yet.

Xenoxide...views like that are great...but no good if you can't stop and view them?

Unless I've got the wrong end of the stick?

It's a fair point, but the train goes really slow and has HUGE panoramic windows. It's like there's no roof. I honestly didn't stop to think about that, I was too gobsmacked by the views. ;)

Theres another, shorter ride which goes to a wee place called Arosa. You get to the top and the views down the valley are stunning. I think it's like the highest town in the alps? Take some cold weather gear though, it's freezing. :P

I like to compose the shot though, spend time on it and exploring etc. Can't do that on a train...

Not a bad idea though...mabbe one for the gf :)

More times than I can count.. My dad was a long distance truck driver hauling various bits and bobs to almost everywhere in Switzerland, so i've seen more of it than most (The inner cities as well as the stunning mountains.. They have an awesome Graf scene there, it's immense in places!). The downhilling is also absolutely fantasmical.

If you get a chance to go the only reason I could think not to would be the cost. Not nessecarily because Switzerland is expensive, but you get naff all Euros for your quid!

Stayed in Geneva twice, drive to Chamonix and get cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi, you will have amazing views of the Mont Blanc, the Alps and the Matterhorn,. Then catch the red cable car to Helbronner Point on the Italian border and if you have time drop down to Valle d'Aosta in Italy, you won’t regret it.

I been there, but I found the French Alps more beautiful and there seemed to be more to do as well. Around Lake Annecy is beautiful. That probably isn't very helpful though since you want information on Switzerland.
