Ice Hockey

Saw a Toronto Blue Jays Blues game about ten years ago when I last visited Canada 10 years ago. Basically it was wrestling on ice skates.

Impressive since the Blue Jays are a baseball team :p

I used to go and watch the Toronto Maple Leafs play a lot when I was a little kid but never really appreciated ice hockey until I was older and went to a Vancouver Canucks game. Now I go and see them whenever I'm in Vancouver or anywhere they happen to be playing and always keep an eye on what's happening with them.

I went to see the Cardiff Devils once... wasn't quite the same :(

Photographed a couple of games :) Where I used to live in Milton Keyenes they had (Not sure anymore, been a decade!) an absolutely fantastic Ice Hockey team.. So much fun. the crowds really get involved, and not for hooliganism either!

I saw the Maples play in T'ronno in December in the Rogers Centre. Apparently the guy who owned the centre, Mr Rogers I presume had died a few days previous so there was a bit of a memorial on at the time.

I can't remember much of it due to the amount of beer consumed but I think it was a good experience.

Air Canada Centre surely? The Rogers Centre is the SkyDome which doesn't have ice.

That's the one! Like I said I was half cut. I can't even remember what I did in the Rogers centre.

EDIT: I remember now. The Rogers fella had just died recently and there was some sort of ceremony on. We didn't stay long though and ended up in the Lone Star restaurant on Fronst Street, the most awesome eatery in Toronto.

Sorry... Flames fan here... but also used to live not far from detroit so my local team was the Redwings...

Always was a problem in the house though, I'm a flames fan, my ex was a montreal fan, her best friend a toronto fan, and the kids liked the redwings...

it got complex...

Yay for saturday night on CBC..

one of the few sports I watch regularly on tv these days..

I went to my first game when I was about 12 but then didn't get back into it till last year at 32. A mate has a season ticket to the Nottingham Panthers so I go with him as aften as I can.

It's on of the only team sports I really like. So much better than football IMO.

been to see the guildford flames a couple of times and when to a Cardiff Devils match ones while i was at uni - all good fun :) Do love the speed of the games, keeps you engadged with it well + the fights :D

I used to play :)

Never got to playing a 'real' match, was in the equivalent of the sunday pub league, but what a game to play. I don't think there is a more macho game to play tbh. It's damn hard work, you sweat bucket loads, bruises, bumps, scrapes, cuts. Fan-bloody-tastic.

I remember someone on these boards played for Bracknell Bees .. I probably skated with them on a training session as I used to skate at Bracknell and Slough.

Saw my first live game in canada last week and my God was it fast and furious. Incredible speed and dexterity from the players. Plenty of fighting too. Best bit was all the crowd were drinking but laughing and joking with the other team's supporters. Brilliant :)

Anyone else seen a live game?

Never seen an ice hockey game but I used to play roller hockey for a team way back, that was always fun and violent/rough but not to the level the ice hockey players I've seen on TV take it :p

I took the other half to see the Guildford flames last Christmas but we were really disappointed. I had hoped for a fast moving and possibly slightly violent game but it was all rather dull. Very little contact and exciting moments were few and far between.

He was really excited as he is an ex-street hockey player so he came away feeling a little unfulfilled but we were both majorly into ice skating at the time and went to Guildford often plus occasionally Slough.

I'm guessing its a whole different ball/puck game on the other side of the water.
