is there a 4870x2 after market cooler? - thats either designed for it, or works just as well as being one? they tend to get a lil hot, seems to be GRID that takes the most out of it i find.

two hr-03's only works if you cut one up significantly as its two wide to sit on the core nearest the back of the case.

You can fit one hr-03 and the other top thermalright sink, it sits kind of underneath the hr-03. Expensive though.

Simply take the shroud off(needs removing the whole sink) redo the paste on the cores as its normally crap, disconnect the fan and stick a silent 120mm fan onto the heatsinks with zipties. Zalman 120mm fan, £5, use the included resistor to knock the fan speed down to silent, or connect to a fan controller if you have one. Either way, mine runs at something like high 30's idle, mid 50's early 60's load depending on the game. Stock sink not quite(with fan set to maybe 55%) i'd get late 60's early 70's load, with stock fan quieter at around 40% it would easily hit 90c under load.

Only seen about 1 person across various forums who got bad temps with a single 120mm fan tbh, guessing thats more to do with bad contact/paste they put on the core.

Surely there is a demand for quiet cooling the 4870x2! I'm sure if a company designed such an amazing after market air cooler they would make a decent profit.

How long does it have to be before we see one? :confused:

The fans on the 4850X2 look more heavy duty :eek:

Even playing wow for a bit my temps hit 75c-80c with the fan at 35%.
Think i’m going to give up waiting and snag a EK 4870X2 Block :cool:

I would personaly make a custom cooler

using two Akasa Vortexx NEO's

Taking the heatsinks & modding them to fit the pcb

Then make a vacumed formed cover with a 120mm fan mounting.

Then have a delta for benching & noctura for day to day

There were never any 3rd party coolers for the 3870X2, and the 4870X2 is practically the same setup, if they havn't made one by now, then I highly doubt we'll see one any time soon.
