Guardsman pushes idiot

Admittedly, not the smartest of moves by the Guardsman whilst on ceremonial duties, really should have known better. However, the Scots Guards have deployed in Afghanistan recently and this lad has probably been in the thick of it. Hope they cut him some slack.

Pity some passing member of the public didn't **** the chav for him, would have saved him no end of grief. ;)

He failed at his job, he has duty to hold, he was selected for being the best, can see him getting slung out, you cant do that if you are guardsman its the the main stigma of being one.

That's what you would be doing, removing free speech.

One step at a time. ;)

See that
s a perfect example of the consumerist approach that we have to human rights in this country. It's all "me, me, me", "my rights," "You owe me this, that and the other."

The idea that there could be a reciprocal duty owed to the community never even crosses the public's mind.

I'm not saying having freedom of speech should be limited more than it is already, or that it should be contingent on the individual fulfilling their obligations, but our society would be a lot better if people would consider the possibility that the world doesn't revolve around their rights.

These guards are well trained professionals and to act this way over a tourist marching along side him is very bad judgement indeed. To be honest i think the guard in question is probably having a bad time at home or something and was upto his limit anyway, this guy just pushed him over the breaking point.

I can imagine they must get pretty stressed, stagging on is a pain in the hole at the best of times. Having the added ****-about factor of making sure your ceremonials are in order & your boots are immaculate would make for a stressful environment at times. For all we know he could have had a rollocking off an NCO for some trivial **** just before going out there.

When I was in Iraq we took over from the scots guards for a couple of weeks as some sort of relief so they could do a surge op - reading their part one orders was highly amusing - their chain of command obviously had a bit of a hard on for ensuring haircuts were correct, also the detail they went down to with regard to when people should be taking showers etc.. was odd - either they had some really grotty little scroats in the unit or were very anal about regime. Basically I came away with the impression that there is a massive BS factor for these people and I really wouldn't be surprised if some of them flip when provoked by tourists.

"selected for being the best" ???

Get a grip, he's probably an ordinary kid who like many others decided to join the army. Most likely chose the guards because either a family member served with them or the recruiter he spoke to was a guardsman. Very much doubt he'll be discharged for it.

He has disrespected the country and the Queen, no mater what you think, the guardsmen bring in a lot of tourism, does this set a good or bad example to tourism, do we want a load of tourists acting like that in the country.

He broke he is not good enough for the job. Simple, would and officer risk putting him out again knowing the reaction he takes? Look a the bayonet, ffs.
