Must have BluRay Movies

open season i found to be good to show off bluray,i bought surfs up as well but i thought it was really grainy, and american gangster i thought didn't show it off well.I also have welcome to the jungle and i think the quality on that is very good,oh and shooter

Any film is good in bluray :P

My personal favourites are:

American Psycho
Dead Silence
Mirrors
Pathology
New Rambo
Resident Evil Degeneration (amazing graphics XD)
SAW IV & V
and a must - Silent Hill!

If you plan on watching any of them play them fairly loud, not OTT and with loads of bass. Mirror's with high bass is jumpy at times :P

Do you need to go watching kids movies to try and warrant any extra detail from your 1080p set-ups??

Not at all - but think these are 'some' of the best visuals.
Others to note are more recent epic movies such as The Dark Knight, Transformers and I Am Legend :) These are all great in Blu-Ray.
However I watched SuperBad the other night on Blu-ray and sure it was clear but no wow factor.
I only go for the big/action/epic type movies (Cloverfield/Matrix/Pirates etc) and upscale the rest of my DVDs on the HTPC :)

Wall-e to me seemed more like one of Pixar's short films from like almost 2 decades ago... the "pre-Toy Story" era. Except that it was feature length.

In short, it was carp. I wanted to turn it off about 3 times but forced myself it watch it. I think part of me just didn't want to face up to the fact that no longer did the "never has Pixar made a duff movie" line apply.

Anyway....

I would recommend Terminator 2. It is awesome at 1080p.

Any others that people think are good? I'm looking at films with lots of special effects that will probably be the ones to benifet the most.

I have Transformers, which I thought was utterly fantastic. The robots looked excellent.

Band of Brothers in 1080p is breath taking. Probably the best blu ray to be released in my opinion.

Good sized screen/tv and 5.1+ will make the whole experience amazing.

Wall-e is also an amazing film.

Rambo is a great blokes film to watch.

Also watch out for Lord of the Rings, there coming out with a 1080p version soon.

If you get one blu ray, get band of brothers.

I was slightly disappointed with the Blu-ray version of Band of Brothers. Particularly when you compare it with the HD-DVD version. The blu-ray version they've used too much DNR. Having said that, if I didn't have the hd-dvd version I'd probably not have noticed.

From the movies I've seen so far the best ones in terms of audio/video quality are probably;

Wall-e
I, Robot
Speed Racer
No Country for Old Men

If you don't mind subtitles then I recommend 'The Orphanage',psychological horror/ fantasy with Guillemero Del Torro( Hell Boy 1&2,Pans Labyrinth)as executive producer.

Very tense and atmospheric movie, with some spine tingling scary moments.

Picture quality very crisp with some beautifully cinematic shots.

The audio surround effects of the creaking orphanage and footsteps on floorboards are very convincing and had me turning around in fright several times during the movie.

And to top it off the story is deep and involving,I found it to be a very emotional film that stayed in my head for days after seeing it,I'll definitely be giving this one repeated spins!

Gonna buy a few more tomorrow..

Which ones to get next?

Definitely getting Transformers.

Kind of wanting films i haven't seen really, but there isn't too many :p

Got;

The Dark Knight
Rambo
Wall-E
Iron Man
National Treasure Book of Secrets

Any more? :)

Wanting probably Transformers, another animation and two other quality titles.
