Hi all
I have a problem with my network , I'm not able to share my pictures between my laptop and home PC.The laptop is on wirless and the home PC is hardwired into the router .
As far as I can tell it's all working because both laptop and home PC are both able to 'see' eack other , but dont seem to want to acess each others files even though I've set up file sharing .
Both running Windows Vista Premium, laptop is a Dell 1545 and PC is a Dell XPS 420.
Thanks for any help ans advice you may give

Firewall?
Share permissions?

Firewall off
Share permissions are all on apart from password protect .

I am not getting any error message's

When I view network in ' control panel / network and sharing' I can see both but am unable to acess both.
Cheers

just had another stab at getting it to work and have had some sucess.
I can now acess the files and folders on the laptop from the PC but the laptop doesn't see the PC at all.
The icon does nothing in the 'network and sharing' window on the laptop other than display the i.p and mac address.(when you click on 'full map')
on the PC you get instant acess to the laptop files and the mouse pointer turns into a hand( I hope I'm explaining this ok?)

If you can utilise the public folder sharing, and stick your photo's in there, that would be ideal for you.

in the Network and Sharing Center set the following.

Network Discovery - On
File Sharing - On
Public Folder Sharing - On
Printer Sharing - (Off unless required)
Password Protected Sharing - (Off)
Media Sharing - On

Those settings on both the laptop and the PC should mean they can see each others public drives and any other shared folders you have set up.

what is the network classified as on both PCs?
If it's classified as public sharing is difficult. Make sure it's classified as either work or home. Preferrably home as that works best for simple file sharing irrc.
