Due an upgrade in February and really like HTC Diamond but i heard the battery life really poor? Just wondering if HTC Touch HD better.
Also is typing sms any good with this touch screen phone?

Thanks

Yup battery life is pretty poor on the Diamond and typing on it can be a chore...wasnt impressed with the touchscreen. I had one from day one of its launch, bought one sim free and it was the biggest waste of my money tbqh. Even with all the custom tweaks i done on it...it still drove me up the wall to the extent that i was ready to smash it against the wall.

But thankfully i lost it back in Dec, no big deal to me as i couldnt stand the phone but what bothered me was the loss of my data lol. Dont know about the Touch HD, problem is they both run WinMo and that in itself is the biggest drawback to the HTC Touch phones.

Im now much much more happier with my Blackberry Bold that i replaced the Touch Diamond with.

If i was you, id try one out in the flesh so to speak before actually buying one.

I've heard the HD's touch screen is very good and the battery will last about 2 days without a charge with moderate usage. Mine should be in my hands by tuesday :D

Sounds about right, my battery lasts a good 2-3 days with 3g on and browsing web, wifi destroys the battery life though, reducing it to a day. Solution, only turn the wifi on when you need it.

The screen is gorgeous, I haven't watched many films/tv on it but I've played around a bit with iPlayer and it's good. Web browsing is superb, it can sometimes be a little fiddly clicking links but being able to browse and read full web pages without having to zoom in is brilliant (probably only rivaled by the iPhone which you need to zoom in for).

Love my diamond - yes the battery doesn't last that long but the screen is lovely to watch / read and even I can use the touch screen keyboard easily (and I have fingers like pigs you know whats!), recently promoted to two finger / thumb typing on it!

Go for the diamond, you know it makes sense :D

The reason i asked about battery life and keyboard because i used to have SE W880i and heavy use texting and phone last around 4 days and using viewty now and when i got it i was like wow and then hate texting without the feeling of no keypad and also battery life reduced to 2 or 3 days with the same use of my w880i.

I love my diamond too, but to be honest its a very iffy phone, even with the upgrades available.

I keep having to press the power on button to turn on the phone and then to turn it off, so it broke . I sent it off to HTC under warranty and they sent it back saying they fixed the problem but it is the same still. So be prepared for pressing the dam thing a million times a day.

does not matter, i am going to buy another one because i just love it, even though i has a million problem.

just going to have to try one and see if its yay or nay.

oh don't plan your trips based on the weather program, you might be in for a shock.:D

Settings-do not lock buttons.

Unlock it by spinning the scroll whell.

Hi
i mean the actual power button broke, it kinda went limp and would not respond to presses. It kinda depressed into the casing slightly and became level with the phones casing.

My touch HD lasts about 4 days with fairly frequent use, I only turn wifi off of I leave the house and bluetooth is always off, I use it for listening to podcasts quite often and browsing the web.

The touch screen is very responsive, I don't miss a keypad at all

My Touch HD battery is very very good. I only use it moderately but do occasionally watch some Family Guy or Lost (which looks incredible on the screen) on the train to meetings in London, I do a bit of browsing but mostly just calls, text and email.

I sometimes have it plugged into my laptop at work whilst I am moving files across so that tops the battery up as well. Last night was the first time I went out of my way to plug it into the wall for a charge in about a 4 or 5 days (no joke). It probably isn't good for it to be 'topped up' so much but there isn't much I can do about that when I am moving files about.

With regards to using the touch screen. It takes some getting used to but I actually find texting and emailing pretty good using a standard phono button layout with T9 on. I have a few niggles with it but otherwise very happy :)

The Diamond is the runt of the recent batch of HTC phones.

If you need it slim, get the HD, it's VERY good, and if you can deal with a slightly thicker phone (but with a qwerty keyboard) the Touch Pro or Sony Xperia X1 are good options.

As reference, I've had an X1 since November, and a work colleague has the HD.

Its quite acceptable as a normal phone (diamond) I usually charge mine overnight or top it up on the way to work in the car. But wifi and gps drains the battery alarmingly, type is is pretty good once you get use to how much pressure you need to bash the screen with. Definately flash a custom rom tho as it will help with speed and battery issues.
