Could the world get more like the metal gear series of games?

forget the massive metal gears and the nano machines etc.

with the current economic crisis, there seems to be one industry that hasnt suffered so far. ARMS!

could this be a new era for a global war economy? many a conflict out there atm.
 
well put it this way what's the thing that got us out of a recession in the 1910's...yes thats right a war and abloody big one at that...whats the thing that got us out the great depression in the 1930's-40's yes you guessed it another blody great big war so its pretty easy too guess what would happen in past circumstances under these conditions however with the advent of nuclear weapons who knows what will happen prettymuch every countrys too scared to use them
 
In 2020 we might be promoted to change disc, before remembering, we're on blu ray!

God I love MGS lines, they're so...odd
 
But to be honest, we didn't have to have a war in the 70's 80's or 90's to get us out of the recession. Fair enough the First and Second World War's, but they were the extremes.

I certainly wouldn't rule it out, but I think it would be a bit extreme if we did go to war, and even if we did, with who?

There were times during the Cold War, one nearly started however. If a war is going to happen though 3 things need to happen in my eyes.
1. Someway to stop Nuclear Warfare has to be put into place otherwise the war would be over in a matter of days.
2. The economic situation would have to be much much worse than it is now. 3. An opponent who we would actually have legitimate reasons for going to war with and an opponent big enough to have a great war.

Of course I'm not saying I would want one, it's just I feel the 3 things above would have to take place in order for one to actually take place. And I don't see all 3 happening at the same time.

I fail to see how a large nuclear war would help ones economy out....:confused:

So it will probably be another military quagmire in africa/middle east.
 
Would be awesome to have the technology seen in the MGS universe. :D

Whether you'd want some of the technologies working against you however.... I think not. Bad Nanomachines!
 
The storage industry is doing well, I mean data storage. Terrorism is good for my job. It's because of these new laws regarding keeping records, like ISPs storing every email sent and received in the UK.
