Hangover cures

Yup I do mean Philidelphia, also tastes good with Chili (or is it spicey?) doritos.
It just cause usually I have irn-bru and crisps in my room, and therefore don't need to travel far.
Can i ask how I have I got it close? Neither have the minerals and vitamins poeple are saying your body craves.

Sounds weird adding Philidelphia to crisps but I might just have to try it.

You're close because you've included Irn Bru and some sort of crisps but missed the chocolate and no hangover cure is complete without all three. It's true your body might crave vitamins and minerals but for a quick fix the three items above do enough to leave you feeling human again and that is about all you can ask for since time and rehydration are the best cures I know of in allowing toxins to leave the body.

Contray to popular belief it is not that your dehidradted that gives you a hangover its that your gagging for natural minerals and vitamins so peanut butter and a banana is recommended.

Not entirely true. Studies have shown that the lack of water causes the brain to swell and results in headaches, photophobia, phonophobia etc. Also, the "feeling sick" element is caused by build up of NADH+ in the stomach, due to the chemical reactions your body has gone through to detoxify the alcohol, using different enzymes.

In my experience, the best hang over cure is drinking lots of water the night before and having a bit of food before you sleep - and trust me, at uni you get a lot of opportunities to explore different remedies!

I don't usually get hangovers, but sometimes I'll get one if I've been at it a bit too hard. In which case, best plan of action for me is:

a) Drink as much non-alcoholic fluid as you can stomach (for me that's pepsi max because water makes me want to throw up ) before you go to bed.
b) Either before you go to bed or in the morning eat a reasonably sized good-tasting meal (e.g. for me Bachelor's Cheese 'n' Broccoli pasta is the winner), healthy or not.
c) Sleep on your back... for some reason that always helps.
d) Never stand up or sit up from lying down too quickly :p

Edit: Oh, and it may well be disgusting, but even if I've drunk waaaay too much getting up in the middle of the night to be sick works wonders.

WORST HANGOVER EVER

my god

Eye ache, head ache, neck ache, bum cheek ache, back pain.

WTF

the other night i was really drunk i went from clapham to chelsea via unkown methods, but i remember walking from chelsea a further 3km or so with a litre of water and i was fine in the morning.

got home at 5am or so, but i remember the water..

there was 1L bottle next to a 500ml bottle, the 500ml was 57p and the 1L was like 44p... i was seriously confused as to why this has occured. and it was from the same company

so do some exercise and drink water, no doubt that increase in metabolism will speed up the whole process, if you stuff yourself with food, it will take longer.

or an IV drip

Couple of pints of water the night before, 2 bananas in the morning if your stomach is bad. Sorts me right out :)

Bacon butty, mars bar and a can of coke.....then a bit of exercise like walking, even if its just to get another coke from the fridge!

Sorts me out most times anyway :)

First night out back in Scotland after being away traveling and the one thing I missed the most was irn bru. I have to say waking up and having irn bru after a night out helps so much :D.

Sugar - it messes your blood sugar levels up, drastically causing a drop
Salt - washes salt out your system
water - dehydration is a big cause of a hangover
caffeine - being drunk disrepts your REM sleep and as such you feel knackered even though you may of slept a lot
fat - alcohol significantly increases stomach acidity.
carbs - once the sugars run out, you need some long term energy

It wont cure it, but it will reduce the effect a hell of a lot..
