What can I do to protect myself from a seller with no feedback?

Want to buy a set of alloys but put off by his feedback. Don't want to lose what could be a chunk of cash. He's offering free P&P which is unusual for alloys.

As one person put in my feedback once, "Forget about the low feedback. We all started at zero." But I don't think that applies in this case.

I'm guessing those alloys are hot and he's trying to get rid of them, so a new account was created so it couldn't be tracked to other items.

say you know someone that can pick them up for you. If he is willing to accept cash on collection i'd feel it would be less likely to be a scam

One of them is covered in a green paint too and he says he will clean it off before posting but I was planning on praying them myself anyway.

Green paint?
Is that the stuff thats on bank notes when securicor pick them up . . . . .

Id hate for the wheels to be tracked to a crime . . . .

There are certain items that are way more likely to be fradulent than others, and I would feel car wheels would be one of them. I would never buy car wheels from someone with zero feedback offering free postage because it just says this is very suspect. I would look for another seller.

Rgds

not worth nicking if he only gets £40 out of it,less his delivery costs he will be selling at a loss .

he doesnt even have them probably, just advertising something he doesnt have.

postage for alloys and the listing fees would make things pointless for £40. scam :]
