Anyone been to Thailand?

If anyone's looking for a place to stay, go to this guesthouse:

http://www.amarininn.com/

A quick walk from Khao san but not in the middle of all the chaos. I stayed there and it was very nice, they're also my new employers too.

i did the usual thing, and stayed in the D&D for some of it - awesome place, right in the midst of it all!

Looking up google images of full moon parties and they look immense!!!

For those that have travelled about, who did you book up with and where did you fly to originally?

I need to start getting some prices

Don't plan anything in advance - especially not hotels etc

Myself and a friend flew from Gatwick to Bangkok, via Abu Dhabi, £500 return flights.

We landed in Bangkok, then the adventure started!

wow thats pretty damn cheap for flights less than i thought tbh

Im not intending on planning too much but a landing base is a good idea! Its easy enough to find some accomodation when I land then?

Getting pretty excited at the prospect tbh haven't been away for ages and this just looks too good :D

def dont book anything, half the fun is winging it as you go.

there are loads and loads of places to stay..

if i were you i would arrive in bangkok and head straight for one of the islands.. fly if you can afford it (£45) or train it overnight.....

i arrived in bangkok, flew straight to samui and then a boat over to koh phangan (full moon parties)... check online to see the dates of the full moon parties and time your trip to be there to go to one....

bangkok for me was a few days on the way home to do some shopping and i also stayed in the D&D inn on koasan road.....

i'd say a few nights in bangkok before islands

and we flew from Bangkok to Phuket, then boated over to Phi Phi for a week or so

then took the ferry, coach, night ferry to Samui, Pangnan and Tao

Having never been away since I was a nipper whats best to do with money? No idea how much to take or how to get hold of more when out there and how to take it :o

Yeah good fun. Try the special energy drinks :D I didn't sleep til the next evening.

I would also recommend Chiang Mai in the north and going on a jungle trek there - I can't remember the name of the company I used, but purchasing the latest Rough Guide to Thailand is well recommended.

That'll be M150 - I'm surprised it's legal :p
