Trade-in value?

I know they're going to be different, I repeat 'I am not an idiot', I expressed agreement previously on such a thing earlier in the thread so I don't see why you're still pressing the point. I'm just shocked at just how much its de-valued.

For example, I paid £20 brand new for NFS:Undercover yet CEX will pay £21 exchange price for it. As you can see it's not necessarily 'how the world works'.

Not just you mate, its everything in the market. The good news for you is that anything you will look to change to will have also devalued by approximately the same amount, even more so for something a bit juicy. Therefore the cost to change remains identical to yourself, if not even cheaper as you wont have to add as much cash to upgrade should you want to.

Devalued market isnt a bad thing :)

Yeah that's a fair point, but is there anything that matches what I'm looking for that's around the same value (and possibly plus a few hundred quid or whatever if need be)?
 
I have just re-read your original post, to be honest cars which are more economical than what you have (you only have a small engine anyway!) are not really my forte, all i can really suggest there is to browse autotrader for the usual suspects and see what your £2000 gets from trade sellers, as this is the budget you will likely have.

Be prepared for the car to be a bit older than what you have, as with this transition you are paying the dealer's wage, and moving into a more desirable car criterion.

I'd also consider something that isn't necessarily more economical as I don't do that many miles anyway and I suppose 'more fun' & 'economical' don't fit in the same category. I guess I'll have a gander for things around the 2K mark although I'm guessing there won't be much I'll be interested in but it's worth a bash. Cheers.

P.S. I guess I'd also consider 2 seater if it makes a difference although I'd 'prefer' a 5.

How much more constructive do you want me to be than correctly estimating the cars trade in value to within £180 just 24 minutes after you posted?

I'm on about the other part of my posts where I've requested possible vehicles to consider as a replacement.

For example I've seen some good FTO's on AT that are within budget and seem like they'd be great fun, I'm assuming I'm likely to be murdered on the insurance though...?
 
The FTO is great fun and £2k buys a good one (I really should sell ours..) however be aware they are all (Not all, but all the ones you'll find) imports so insurance is disproportionately expensive.

Cheers for the info, I think I'll have a look tonight and see what options I've got, see which of them won't give me a heart attack insurance wise and then make a list on here, see what the consensus is.

MX-5? We're on about the FTO aren't we? lol. I saw the insurance for the FTO anyway earlier, I'll be passing :) Gonna do some more research though and also check if I can get a lower quote than my renewal that came today incase.
